True, but it’s not like kids view them on the same level as OU for example.
OU is in a less than ideal location (it’s Oklahoma after all) but they have money, a history of success, and the Jordan Brand stuff certainly helps. They should be able to compete at the same level that OU does.
Yea, but they don’t view them like that because they’ve had a long period of not being the Nebraska that the older generation is familiar with IMO. The era between Stoops and Switzerland for that program was also pretty forgettable. That’s basically between 1989 and 1999.

Nebraska will more than likely never be what they were in the 90s again but there’s no reason they can’t win 8-9 a year and win their division, basically like everyone says they should be another Wisconsin.

Ya know, like Bo Pelini had them doing in the regular

Did you know this whole Wisconsin Barry Alvarez smashmouth philosophy comes from Alvarez being a Nebraska alum and being enamored with Tom Osborne's way of doing things at Nebraska, so he imported it all over to Wisconsin when he became coach there. He even brought back the helmets and unis that copied Nebraska's after UW had done away with them a few years earlier.

Right now, Wisconsin is basically doing Nebraska, better than Nebraska does.

I don’t think we can compare Oklahoma to Nebraska. Oklahoma can recruit Texas. Nebraska doesn’t have a recruiting pipeline like they do

Nebraska cooked…only thing will save em is outbidding everybody but idk if they got the bread for that consistently

Seems like they been stuck on being a flashy, super program so I don’t think they wanna go the Wisconsin route

Very true. And it’s so funny their fans say “we don’t want to be Wisconsin!”

Like what do you want to be? 3-9 every year like you are now? Sure Wisconsin hasn’t won a title or anything recently but they’re a consistently solid program

You’re right about Alvarez and Nebraska, but I don’t know about that uniform part. The only thing I think they did differently with the uniforms of note was go from the straight “W” to the updated motion “W” on the helmet. Badgers have pretty much had white helmets since the 1970s, well before Barry arrived.

i think they’d gotten rid of the helmet stripes and Alvarez made them bring it back. I think there were also some tweaks to the actual uniform to more closely resemble the Nebraska unis Barry wore. I can’t find the article I read years back where they talked about his desire to recreate Nebraska in Madison, down to what he considered the intimidating look.

But that's the thing though, Nebraska thinks they're too good for that style of football. The delusions of grandeur is almost the worst of any fanbase or program in the country. They stay bashing Iowa and Wisconsin thinking they are tOSU. They act like they are a coach away from making that happen. Nebraska was only relevant in the early 90s because of roids and letting players do whatever they wanted including beating women and committing sexual assault. I hope that program fails. Osborne is a scum.

Osborne is still in Congress right?
