Sports writer Ryan phillips said the university knew all this before giving him the two week suspension but hoped it stayed buried and it wasn’t until the student reporters started digging that their hand was forced. Also that other schools know there’s no chance Fitzgerald wasn’t aware of any of this when NW acknowledges several of his staff were.

I noticed his statement doesn’t discredit any of the recent reporting or deny allegations of sexual hazing. Just repeats that he didn’t know about it. He’s basically saying “regardless, we had a deal.”

Darren Rovell has been suspiciously quiet following the news of Fitzgerald being canned. That clown goes hard for his alma mater.

I don’t think it’s even about his alma mater. These dudes are all friends with Fitzgerald so they’re backing him off that access alone. If Rovell cared about his school he’d want what was best for it and not the guy.

Kanell tripled and quadrupled down yesterday that this was the wrong decision, that NW would regret it, and that they should have just given him a 1-2 game suspension. He was on CBS sports saying it’s only 2 kids complaining and that they’re liars with vendettas. He then started “speculating” that Fitz would come out and say he had no knowledge of any of this and that he “bets” Fitz is going to announce he’s hired a lawyer and will sue the school. It’s pretty clear he wasn’t guessing and he was in communication with Fitz who was using him as a mouthpiece.

Kanell sounded dumb when the other hosts told him on air the firing wasn’t just over Twitter comments but the school had confirmed the things in the student paper report.

Dead week sports wise, hence no PTI. But wanted to hear Mike Wilbon’s, all things NW, alumni as well and Big 10 defender thoughts on this.

Even if Fitzgerald didn’t “know” (which we all know he did), as a coach you’re supposed to know that stuff is going on especially for that long

He should be fired whether he knew or not

Danny Kanell is a dip-****

Is Napier plugged in with the media?

Seems to be a lot of guys capeing for him that he needs “time”, but no one told him to pick up Mertz in the transfer portal or to roll out with what they had at the skill positions outside of QB last season.

He might be working the circuit behind closed doors after the first season and ThaxbyChamblis ThaxbyChamblis pointed out that he’s a Sexton guy. Media has typically been friendly with the last few Florida coaches though until it’s obvious that they’re not the guy

Pac 12 won't have a deal done in time for media day.

I should dig up my old posts about what would happen when USC left the conference and the responses saying SC never would, and if they did the Pac would just refuse to schedule them and SC would suffer for it.

They get paid the big bucks to know everything and control the program…That out the loop excuse won’t fly, and if they can’t handle it better go coach juco or something :lol

The idea that a 15+ Year tenured head coach had things happening inside the walls of his facility and didn't know is the most utterly preposterous assertion of this entire Fitzgerald ordeal.

These guys know ******* everything.

Yep, he's a Sexton guy and that doesn't hurt.

Also, he kinda laid the groundwork for this when he first arrived at Florida. He didn't really promise a quick return or resurgence. He actually tried to calm down any hype and told them that it was going to take a while to get back. I think he preached the same thing behind the scenes as well to try to get ahead of likely what he noted when he first got there. But UF is not really known as a school who is one to deal positively with patience and the waiting game

With that said, barring something crazy, hitching your wagon this season to Graham Mertz is certainly an interesting decision
