This is a better Argentina side and a lesser French squad, on paper, now but they've both been clicking at the right time and have both gotten better as the tourney's worn on so it should be a great match-up all things considered

That match was crazy
One of my personal favorites was Belgium vs Japan, not because of us but because of how fierce of an opponent Japan was. I think that match really boosted their squad's reputation.
They were really fun to watch this WC too, I would've liked to see them get further. It was wild how energetic the Japanese players were from the first to last minute, every single match.
At some point they had to have been running on pure adrenaline and pride. They played entertaining football on top of that too, it wasn't just limitless energy with little purpose.
Just like the last WC, I think Japan gained a lot of new fans and respect this time around.

that's so endearing. typically, fans want the players to win it for them. seeing them wanting to give Messi his laurel just show how much respect they have for him that it is a crime to deny him that.

It’s a lot of work. He’ll have to do a lot of delegating. Especially when it comes to the scouting aspect during the club season.

I feel like it’s Leo’s time. He’s paced himself specifically for this and I think the urgency of peak Messi fading will cause his teammates to rally around him and synergize for World Cup magic.
But maybe I’m just trying to jinx it.
Messi so elusive this WC that he evaded the jinx and instead is manifesting it all
. In seriousness I picked Argentina in the poll and what I wrote there was my actual prediction of what’ll happen. That said I’m really hoping I’m wrong Sunday. It’s not that I don’t want Messi winning, it’s that I don’t want to hear his annoying *** fans for the rest of my life
