Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Season Thread Vol: (17-17)

SWEEP!!!!!!!! is anybody else worried about this 4 game set with the Brewers coming up soon?

Not at all. They have 3 vs Pitt first, we have 2 in Tampa (with the DH)

By the time that series starts, there'll be 11 left, if we still have a 4 game lead at that point, just winning 1 game of that series would still have us with a 2 game lead, with 7 to play.

We need to really just win 5-6 games the rest of the year, they'd have to win like 10-11 to beat us by 1 game.

And we should get Arrieta back this week too, and have all 5 starters lined up, plus Contreras and Russell back healthy.

The Brewers just lost one of their best starters for the season. We're in great shape, just need to show it now.

Cubs throw a 1 hitter vs the Rays and Chris Archer and win 2-1. :pimp:

Schwarber with an absolute BOMB off Archer, his 28th of the year. Dude has struggled mightily and is gonna hit 30 homers. :pimp:

Baez adds an RBI double playin third on a day off for KB.

7 game winning streak, 18 games over .500, both season highs.

Lester today, Arrieta tomorrow. :pimp:

Lester really let us down last night. :smh:

But, good news was the Brewers choking their game away and using up their entire pen like 3 days in a row. Need to use to that our advantage tonight. (and the rest of the weekend)

Rough start here.... :smh:

Schwarber starts us off early with an opportunity bomb.
Rizzo knocks in another with a single but Bryant gets thrown out at 3rd killing chance to pull on.

Maddon takes out Heyward, costs us the tying run on a base hit to RF.

Now Strop/Wilson give up the lead. Need a run here in the 9th.

W. 85-67

5 up in the loss column. 10 to go. Magic number 6.

Incredible game.

Lackey, Hendricks, Quintana up next, just one W vs the Brewers in the next 3 might finish it off.

i

Down 3-0, Cubs come back and win 5-4 in 10. :pimp: :pimp:

5 up on the Cards with 9 to play.

Hendricks
Quintana
Lester
Arrieta

Next 4 games. :pimp:

Truly heartbreaking loss.

Cubs take the lead late with a chance to go up 3-0 in the series, Davis in to save 33 of 33, gives up a Homer to the first batter he faces.

Retake the lead in the 10th, to potentially win a 3rd straight game in 10, Davis comes back for the 10th and gives up a walk off homer to Travis Shaw. :frown:

Bright side, Cards got demolished by Pitt so loss doesn't hurt, but a W would have pretty much ended it.

Need Q to come up big today.

Cards lose, Q with 8 shutout innings, Cubs up 5-0 in the 9th.

Magic # would be 2, chance o clinch in St. Louis. :pimp:

Quintana, 9 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 10 K's, 116 pitches.

Outstanding. :pimp:

His final start will be vs the Reds, my guess is he only goes 4-5 innings.

Lester, Arrieta, Lackey, Hendricks all have chances to clinch in St. Louis. :pimp:

Clinch, rest, get a few personal goals these last 7 games.

Need Schwarber to hit one, and Bryant two to have three 30 homer guys.

Magic number is 2 fellas. Tuesday should be the night we win the NL Central. its that time of year. my lawn!!!!!! Quintana was dealing yesterday.

Cubs destroy the Cardinals, again :pimp:

Score 4 in the first, Addy 3-run double, followed by a Heyward rbi-double.
Bryant Solo shot
Baez 3-run shot
Jay/La Stella tack on two late RBI singles.

Lester only gives up 1 thru 6, just perfect.

Magic # = 1. :pimp:

we already in St.Louis. Anheuser busch don't have far to travel to get us our beer. we popping the top tonight. Division Champs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Cubs start a Triple A lineup and still beat the Cards in 11 innings. :pimp:

14-5 vs StL this year. 3 losses with Kris Bryant out of the lineup.

90 wins, and Cards are eliminated from Wild Card contention. :pimp:

Cubs rest half the team again, still win 5-4 on Happ's 3-run homer, 24th on the year.

Bryant-Schwarber have two games to hit their 30th.
