Actually the midsoles on my sons pair is holding up very well. His have been worn at least four days a week since release day. I've even had to wear them quite a few times and I'm about 225lbs. Not a single crack or chip.

It's obvious JB doesn't care or purposefully retros colors that don't match the OG's.
