OFFICIAL: BOSTON BRUINS 2011 STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!!

I'd keep Richards too but slowly it seems the core of this team is shifting from Carter and Richards (well for Carter it's been gone) to JVR and Giroux which is why I said I can see major shake ups coming. Richards has been absent in these playoffs, he has one goal in the end of a garbage time game but I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

I love Coburn, they better not trade him he has totally justified his 1st round pick status at this point in his career. I will personally drive Kris Versteeg to any destination we trade him to, free of charge.

We are blaming the refs. It was a blatantly disgusting call and cost Nashville the game.

I know Quan but it doesn't take away that it was such a crock of #%%+ move/call

I'll put some blame on the refs but when Kesler is doing it then looking back at the refs it just irked me. The refs should have yelled something but my main point was that if they can get that going their way in Nashville, it'll be rough for Nashville to win.

Oh for sure, my comments weren't directed to anyone in particular, just a general statement on the topic.

The way I see it, it's like someone in the NBA going down after contact or screaming out loud when he gets hacked going to the basket. What Kesler did is obviously a trick to get the advantage in the game. I.e. in Liariano's no hitter last night, it was clear the 1st basemen didn't tag the player at 1st (in the 8th?) but he raised his glove as if he did tag the player and the ump was in the wrong position but called the runner out. I view it as the same type of thing as that......nothing wrong with it IMO, and the refs are forced to make a call. They should however have told Kesler to let go, and if he didn't, give him the penalty.

Vokoun is a UFA BTW. And I believe if Carter is on the block the Ducks will be interested. He is exactly what we need to pair with Bobby on the 2nd line.

On the subject of the bad call in the Preds game, I'd say they got what they had coming to them. They dove twice in the final minutes of games against ANA, that drew calls, which didn't allow us to have a chance to tie. Bad calls happen. We got the short end of the stick in the 1st round, and they got screwed last night. You'd like the refs to be better and more consistent, but it probably won't ever happen.

Congrats to TB. They wanted it more. I know this game isn't over, but there isn't a chance in hell that the Caps come back tonight. I had hope, too

I thought that there would be more intensity and fire from the guys, but they proved me wrong. Changes needs to be made. I can handle losing....what I can't accept is a poor effort. These guys think that they can just get by with their skill. On paper, this might be the most talented team in the NHL. What we're finding out (again) in the playoffs is that a lot of guys aren't willing to do the necessary things to score goals. Go hard to the net, pay the price, win battles, etc....If it ain't coming from Bruce, you gotta look at your captain. I'm a HUGE Ovechkin fan, but you look at other cup winners in the past who had the "C" on their sweater (Messier, Yzerman, Brind'Amour, Stevens, *whispers* Crosby, etc..), they ALL led by example. I'm not talking about trying to do things on your own, because things don't work that way in the NHL. All of those guys on the road to their championships in NY, Det, Car, NJ, & Pit, each had a moment where their leadership came through in one way or another. I think we're still waiting for that "moment" with Ovechkin. It's not just him.....players are not being held accountable for STUPID mistakes. Mistakes that you should not be making when the stakes are so high. Obviously this isn't the year....but it's been the same song/dance with this team for the past 3 seasons. Honestly, this series loss to TB is worse than what happened last year vs. Montreal. G

Going back to Bruce....I like the guy. He's done wonders in developing the talent that we have here in DC. Guys like Backstrom, Green, and Laich have flourished under him. That being said, he's being out-coached by Guy Boucher. Which should not happen. Maybe this team needs more of a disciplinarian at the helm (not Mike Keenan), but someone of the Bylsma mold. A guy who can motivate and get the best out of the talent on a nightly basis. I dunno, man. A lot of things going thru my head about this team. There are PLENTY of questions that need to be answered, but here's my quick breakdown of who should stay/go for next season:

Keepers:

Ovechkin
Backstrom
Johansson
Laich (hopefully)
Chimera
Gordon
Hendricks
Green
Wideman
Alzner
Carlson
Hannan (hopefully)
Neuvirth

Trade:

Fehr
Schultz
Semin
Varlamov (Holtby can backup next year)
Poti (that contract
30t6p3b.gif
)

Cut:

King (Wish we still had SDR still in the system and never gave him up....what an absolute WASTE of a trade)

Undecided:

Erskine
Bradley (no point in having both he and Hendricks on the roster IMO)
Arnott (keep either him or Knuble)
Knuble (keep either him or Arnott)
Sturm
