Official CAR AUDIO Thread FAQ added

yeah.... i cant find any comparo's on two 8w7's vs one 10w6.... both will be the new style....

whats a price range i should expect to pay to get my system re-wired?
nerd.gif

im assuming theres loose/disconnected wires cause my driver door speakers go in and out on their own n i have to bang on the door

i have an alpine headunit, 4 interior speakers n a box in the trunk.

^^ yeah... so 2 8's or 1 10?... im pretty sure the w7 is a better model.. the 2 8's would hit harder then 1 10?

i think this combo deal would suit you well..

the ssa icon isn't as clean sounding as the q but gets louder.

I would just have to end up taking it to a local audio shop to have it installed.

Does it matter on the type of box or would a certain size be better?

You need a custom box for that. I don't know any good box builders in NY either

But if you find one..get it built to these specs 2.5 cubes ported @ 33 hz

Fi is just one brand that's better. others are digital designs, DC sound labs, sundown, resonant engineering, image dynamics, incriminatoraudio, sound solutions, sound splinter, audioque, dynaudio, zapco..etc etc

I mean seriously $250 for an 8"?

Why in the hell did i think you were from New York?

2.5 cubes= 2 1/2 cubic feet.

My mind is fried right now from work so i pasted this from a forum..

PORTED enclosures (Bass Reflex) : A PORTED enclosure will generally have a better low frequency extension for a given response shape, but would require a larger enclosure. If you made the enclosure as small as the sealed enclosure, but ported it to gain the low frequency response, the output would deviate from the desired flat response.

Ported enclosures are slightly more difficult to design than a sealed enclosure. When using a sealed enclosure, it is difficult to be so far off as to risk damaging the woofers. In any type of enclosure, the woofer relies on the enclosure for damping. If there is insufficient damping, the woofer's cone will move significantly more than it should. The ported box will provide virtually no damping below the port frequency, all of the control will be provided by the woofer's suspension. Below the tuning (port) frequency, it is possible to cause damage to the woofer well before power levels approach the maximum power ratings of the woofer.
common tunning frequencies :
Sound Quality : 20 up to 28 Hz.
Sound Quality Loudness : 30 up to 35 Hz
Sound Pressure LeveL SPL : 40 up to 80 Hz (test tones are played rather than normal music, to avoid Low frequencies, which damages the speaker).
Its commonly used for competition propose. and not everyday driving.(unless you like listening to test tones for everyday driving).
Hope you know what frequency is

I just had my stereo friend look at it the other day. He fixed some wires that were a little loose and said it looked good but it was still cutting out when Ileft. I'm in Chicago right now but as soon as I get back in town I'm gonna give it another look

He was ordering some 4" fans he wa
