I watched the first episode of season 1 when it aired and wasn't too sure if I would be interested in the show. That following week people were saying how boring the episode was. Glad I stuck with the show and continued to watch.

It's basically The Sopranos meets Middle Earth.
Politics of power, war, family, honor, identity, etc., all are major themes and it's set in a fantasy realm. Well-written, solidly acted, good production values, and flat out entertaining. It might seem like a lot to take in at first since there's so many characters and history, but it's worth it.
