So I heard a lot of mixed opinions on these headphones and I decided to pick up a pair. Before that day, the most I'd ever spent on headphones were 25 bucks on a pair of Sony. I knew I needed something better to compare the quality to. So I went down to Best Buy and picked up the Beats Studio headphones and the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 (QC15) headphones. Both were the exact same price. I used the Bose QC15 everyday for one week, then did the same with the Beats. Here's what I came up with.
What I like:
-Sleek design.
-Very loud with very little distortion.
-"Mute" button that cuts the power when someone starts speaking to you.
-Comes with a headphone cable w/ cell phone mic. You can listen to your cell phone MP3s and still take a call without removing the headphones.
-Collapses for easy storage.
What I don't like:
-THESE THINGS LEAK NOISE LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS. Anyone standing next to you can almost always know what your listening to. That would concern me if I would be using these to speak on the phone.
-Build quality is sub-par. Even the the display model at Best Buy were falling apart.
-Bass is tight and crisp but sometimes and get overwhelming. Meaning, they add too much bass sometimes when its not needed.
-Fingerprints everywhere.
What I like:
-Not as sexy as the Beats, but not as fugly as the Skull Candys.
-They come with a Bose "Courtesy Card". If someone asks you about your headphones, you pull a card out of your case can keep it movin. Bawse!
-SUPER COMFORTABLE. No matter what size ears you have, these with cover them so smoothly.
-Solid construction and soft leather.
-Noise cancellation king. Weather your in a friends car and don't like whats on the radio or trying to block out the subway noise, these will do it superbly.
What I don't like:
-Sometimes I like to listen to loud music, wont find that here. Music gets loud but keeps it reasonable.
-Not too fashionable but then again, its not supposed to be.
Comparison:
-Both need batteries on order to operate. Once the battery dies, so does the music. Sometimes I forget to turn the headphones off when I turn off the music. I'm sure I'm not the only one but the battery dies much quicker when you forget they're on for a few hrs unused.
-The Bose requires one AAA battery, the Beats require two.
-Both carry cases are nice in their own respect.
-You can detach the chord on both and just use them to cancel noise. Great for when you don't feel like listening to your girlfriend.
-Noise cancellation is 2x as good as the beats.
My suggestion:
Besides the flashy packaging, Monster and take some notes from Bose. Besides the "Mute" button, everything else on the Beats are for visual before performance. I honestly only gave them a chance because they were co-signed by Dr. Dre but I'm sure everyone did. Don't get caught up in the hype, not worth $300 at all. The Bose QC15 had much better comfort, noise cancellation, and sound quality, not as loud as I like it sometimes but I can deal with it.
Thanks for reading. Hope someone finds this helpful, especially since its holiday time.

I originally brought them for retail price. I was immediately disappointed with the quality but I still wanted to keep them. I just went back to Best Buy, brought the Beat Solo headphones, $179.99. Removed the sleeve they come in (this is important because that holds the barcode), and returned them using the Beats Studio receipt I got a week ago. People that work in the customer service usually don't know what to look for so she just returned them without a problem. They can't give back more than $250 in cash so try exchanging or using credit/debit. Im sure that will help somebody (Kanye shrug)
