Official Jags vs. Pats Thread - What good is "ball control" when your down by 21?

damn, we got people from all over the country asking for Jags sigs and avatars...did i miss out on something here? lol...is this supposed to jinx the Pats orsomething?

btw...this should be a fun game but the Pats are the Pats...i would have rather seen the Patriots play the Chargers and the Jags running game ain't nothingto mess with...but when it comes down to it, I say Pats 27 - Jags 17

Go Patriots!

UNLIKE BELLI**** who took Sean Taylor's number off the back of every one of his players' helmets...well i dont know who exactly did that but that is pretty unclassy of the Pats organization...they should have 21 on their helmets just like the rest of the league...

I was complaining about the Patriots not having the 21 sticker on the back of their helmets while I was watching the Jags/Steelers game, then I noticed theJags don't have it either...

As much as I have enjoyed watching the Pats make history, I think it ends this weekend. I have a feeling that the Jags are the team that will end this magicthat New England has produced this year. I hope I am wrong for the simple fact of witnessing a team run the table. Should be a good game nonetheless.

I just bought an authentic Freddy Taylor and Tom Brady jersey............hopefully i can rock the Jags jersey after Saturday night !!

From Bill Simmons (known Boston sports fan, yes):
For anyone playing the "Jacksonville can control the clock and pressure Brady" card, didn't we see the Steelers drop 19 points on the Jags in about five seconds last weekend once they started chucking the ball every down? What about the fact Jacksonville relies on its defensive line for pressure and isn't one of those Philly-type teams that blitzes from all angles -- if anything, the Jags are pretty predictable -- which makes them exactly the type of defense Brady chewed up and wore down this season. (Remember the ******** game?) Also, who's covering Wes Welker on the Jags? Have we figured this out yet? Do you really think Randy Moss -- someone who always shows up for big games -- isn't coming out of Round 2 with one huge play? Hasn't Belichick always been able to shut down one-dimensional offenses? Do you feel even remotely confident in Garrard trying to match points with Brady if he's down by double digits in the fourth quarter?

Maybe the Pats can be beaten, but not by these guys. In fact, I'm insulted that you even think this might be close.

The Pick: New England 42, Jacksonville 15.

Interesting stat: the 2007 Jags are 0-4 when going down by more than 7 points...so they really would need to control the ball to keep this one close

I want to see an AFC South AFC Championship game. We already got the best division that the league has ever seen (record wise).

Everyone does realize that Jacksonville does indeed put up alot of points?

Im not saying they are gonna win, but people assuming JVille cant put up points are out their mind. People like Bill Simmons assume the Jags are about runningthe ball then settling for FGs once they reach the red zone. that AINT what the Jaguars do.

I think this is gonna be a good game. I really buy into how the jags are such a "physical" team(which is something i rarely do). Cant wait to see thematchup between rashean mathis and randy moss

JVille tends to struggle against a 3 WR aerial attack... it should be interesting. I don't see Maroney having a big game, but I see Gaffney and Welkerputting in work. It'll be a test, that's for sure.

36 on Buffalo 29 & 31 on Steelers 24 o n SD 25 on Colts 28 on Titans 24 on TB those cupcake defenses to you?

they play in the toughest conference in the NFL.

they are the 5th highest scoring team in the NFL. this aint no keep the score low and let the D win it type team. Thats what people are not getting.

EDIT: at first i thought the same...but GUNNA has somewhat of a point i think. but still....you can look at it like this, if the Jags are going to try andput up monster numbers against us, they have to be prepared to hand the ball over everytime they score, which i don't think they really want to do. I dothink they want to keep it a low scoring game, just to minimize our possessions.

And there will be very little running the ball on the Pats side i think. It's gonna be open it up and air it out all night...at least I hope so

damn if they want a shootout...they'll def get one....we're ready to score on all possessions

While I am certainly not as confident as someone like Simmons, given their playoff history/record, the fact they went 16-0, and the new offensive weaponssurrounding Tom Brady and their desire to win a ring, I feel as though the Pats should win this game.

they are not cupcake teams, but if they plan to put up 25 against the pats, they will lose.

so if they plan to put up 10 points they have a better chance? what kinda logic is that?

its a 75% chance the Pats win by at least 10 pts, Im not doubting that, but its not because the Jags cant score. the general public has thewrong perception of the Jaguars. they think, run game, and automatically think they arent punching it in the end zone, but to have the 5thhighest scoring teamin the NFL means they are scoring TDs at an alarmingly high percentage. throwing the ball all around isnt the only way to score. they are the 2nd best teamrushing the football and 3rd best in Time of possession. that s the recipe to beat anyone.

what Im trying to say is, that minus the Colts, this is the best team the Pats will play all year.

and lucky for the Pats, SD might just knock the Colts out the picture

IDK how anyone can pick the Jags....the Pats are going to score early on them and keep piling on the points. Once that happens I can see the Jags shying awayfrom the run, and if that happens they will have a 0 % chance of winning.

Pats will cover the spread, they'll win by 20 IMO.

I'm with Gunna on this discussion. I been sayin' the exact same @*%+ to all my friends (Who, of course, have magically become Pats fans...).

Everyone is writing off the Jags already, but I think this will be the best opponent New England has seen all year. I personally think it's all gonna comedown to how much pressure the front 4 of the Jags can put on Brady. If they can get to him, the Jags have then got plenty of men in the secondary to causeproblems. I wanna see Mathis do work again.

I'm definitely pullin' for the Jags in this one. I hope to see a great football game. Let's go Freddy.

New Englad media is hilarious...I haven't heard one person not think this is a blowout

Fred Smerlas and Deossie talkin about Pats will put up 40+ and Jags will be lucky to get to 10
