Official Jazz thread

Just pulled this out of storage. The Alfie (1966 starring Michael Caine) soundtrack featuring Sonny Rollins. This is one of the best movie soundtracks ever. This album could stand alone from the movie & it's still a classic album. Rollins probably at the height of his playing in the 60s.

This isn't the straight jazz stuff I've been posting. It's the theme from the classic Steve McQueen movie Bullitt by icon Lalo Schifrin. He did a lot of iconic soundtrack work in the 60s using jazz arrangements. A lot of hip hop producers & DJs along with electronic dudes have sampled & looped Schifrin's work. He was famous for writting the original Mission Impossible theme. Steve McQueen was one bad @#$ dude in real life. The chase seen in this movie with the '68 Mustang is one of the most classic action scenes in movie history...

Caught the tail end of this movies on Starz earlier today. Beautiful song featuring Terrrence Blanchard on trumpet.

I bought this some time ago, listened to it a couple of times as ambiet music on Sunday mornings while making breakfast for the family...But I never really listened to it until recently. I regret that because this is one bad chick. Love this song...

This is more R&B but oh well. Looks like the release date for Esperanza's new album Radio Music Society is March 20th. Can't wait to cop...

Taking a jazz appreciation class and it's def making me appreciate jazz

Herbie Hancock is that dude

The Death Wish movies were kinda ripped off of the Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry movies. Typical 70s movie. For some reason, the producers were always able to get great mucisians to do the Death Wish soundtracks. Jimmy Page from Led Zepplin did on of the sequels...I read someone's trying to revamp Death Wish though...

Posting this song again. Cloudy here & I love playing this song on days like this or if it rains.

Damn, jelly you're going to the release party. If you can, take some pics & post in the thread. I saw Glaspers initial tour dates & he's playing near me but only by himself. He's playing with his band in DC, but I hate driving in DC because it's all one-way streets...

Ive always enjoyed jazz, but i've never really been an avid listener until recently. I remembered my dad playing his California Concert record. If you love jazz, and havent heard that, you absolutely need to, its pretty much a jazz supergroup in concert

Never got back to this thread, thanks for the heads up on Glasper.

Black Radio is "out" gave it a few listens, it's very decent. You we're right about him going into the R&B direction.

'Bout to delve into his old stuff now, the Jazz stuff. 'Preciate the info.

My favorite song by Diana Krall. Love the bossa nova beat. She's even better live. If she ever plays around you, take your girl/wife, dress elegantly, go out for dinner somewhere nice, & go see her...
