if i remember correctly, stanford kinda screwed him over. they had two scholarships and trent johnson promised him one if one of two recruits he targeted were to turn down the team. i think one kid did, however, they went on and gave the scholarship to another kid and asked him to walk on. from there, lin was disappointed and took his talents somewhere else. forget pac10 (i didnt think he was gonna get one back then when i heard about him and saw a couple games), but im shocked he didnt get any looks from all the other schools in the west coast.

It's all dependent on your parents income level... you receive need-based financial aid depnding on how much $ your parents make... some schools though, have better overall financial aid (Harvard, Yale, Princeton) which gives them advantage over the other teams in the league

For the guy that said Harvard is really good... they are now, but they weren't even close to that same level when Lin was recruited there... I think they won 8 games his sophomore year if I'm not mistaken

Ivy's don't give athletic scholarships, but they do give need-based financial aid. Actually I believe Harvard was one of the best at providing aid because their endowment fund (pre-200 was doing so well.
