OFFICIAL LAKERS 2009/2010 (57-25) 2009-2010 CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!

Honestly Pau has no right to complain about him not getting enough touches or passes from Kobe. Pau been playing like Pau Gasoft all season long and did not deserve to even make the allstar team this year as a reserve.

With that said anyone else feel like this season is looking like and turning into a post season run where we face the Magic for a rematch this year in the Finals ? Sure the Cavs are getting all the hype and everyone and their mommas are predicting a Lakers vs. Cavs, Kobe vs. Lebron Finals. But honestly I think we may see a rematch this year in the finals.

I don't think there will be controversy, one, Pau does not have the same type of personality as Shaq. I genuinely think that Pau isn't saying the things he is to piss Kobe off. He is just speaking from a coaching prospective, he knows the offense and how it's "supposed" to run. If he was Phil Jackson and said the same thing (he is asking for the ball to go into the post more, not that he get the touches) then people would be ok with it, but the media likes to create drama and imply that Pau is saying he wants the ball more.

Even if Pau is saying he wants more touches (he could have in other interviews), I don't think he's wrong for saying that, the offense is supposed to work inside out anyway. They just haven't been playing it right. In stretches (end of 3rd qtr vs. Warriors) you see what the offense can do for use and you see how good we can be if they work within the offense.

I agree somewhat...the inside out game looks way better though when it's against a bunch of midgets. Too often when Pau goes against someone who wants to be the least bit physical he shrivels up like a raisin. Know use getting the ball if you aren't going to make a play with it either for yourself or teammates. Also he seems to often to wait too long to pass out of the double team.

The offense isn't predicated on necessarily inside out, it's on ball movement and cutting, I mean besides Jordan the Bulls never had a true post presence or big guy to throw the ball into.

How in the hell would Pau (just over two years) know the offense better then Kobe?

Just because Kobe does his own thing and creates stuff outta nothing, nobody on the Lakers knows that offense better, come on man.  (eh, maybe DFish I guess)

None of this crap matters, once the playoffs hit, we'll all be in sync and figure things out.  We worked thru it all last year, we'll work thru it again this year.  Doesn't guarantee success, but at least we won't be spending time worrying about little things and touches and all that.  Guys are bored and cryin about the small stuff, all that goes away once the real season begins.......

This is true.
I hope Artest can take his D to another level come playoff time. I liked how he stepped up vs Melo and Pierce.

lol, i knew kb was going to get some hate for that.. im sure when he "has" to play some defense it's tough on the other player

Hang on a minute, nobody said he knows better than Kobe. I never said Kobe doesn't know how to run the offense either, but wouldn't you agree that just because you know how something should be done doesn't mean that you do it? I stand my ground on the Pau issue.
I agree that it doesn't matter so much once the playoffs come around because I do think that Kobe will do whatever it takes to win over getting his. I have a pretty good balance when it comes to my views on Kobe and the whole team for that matter.

Toughest defenders both on the same team? Makes Lakers scarier.
Daily Breeze: Ron Artest and Kobe Bryant were named the toughest defenders in the NBA in a poll of 173 players conducted by Sports Illustrated. Artest earned 42 percent of the votes and Bryant received 13 percent in results announced Tuesday.

When Kobe plays other elite players he is one of if not the best defenders in the league, the problem is we don't play the Cavs, Heat, Nuggets, or Thunder every game, so his role is to be a roamer and a help defender. Thing is he too often leaves his man wide open, but he still can lock people down when he wants to.

His career has pretty much always been a free roamer defender. But at the same time name any top 5 player in the league today who can play 100% or even 90% lock down defense every game like Raja Bell, or another defensive specialist player.

But yeah Kobe has that rep and has earned it because of what he's done before. A good example: just watch the 2008 China summer Olympic games. Or even if you want to go further back check the videos and tapes during the 3 peat years when he would guard and lock up guys like AI & Damon Stoudamire.

I know it's been brought up and asked on this thread before.

But how would you all feel if the Lakers picked up Raja Bell this summer ?

I think he's a free agent this summer.

Bynum is looking better lately. I think one thing thats holding him back is his conditioning. Once he gets that back, he can go back to doing what he was doing so well pre-injury.

Last nights game, I saw more lift in his legs (from those alley oops and dunks). More active in the paint, etc

He was playing scrubby teams, so maybe im wrong.

Kobe Bryant is an excellent defender. Matter of fact, Kobe and Ron in an NBA 2-on-2 tourney wins it all, in my opinion.

Hopefully the guys start locking in and getting into that playoff mindset.

Raja Bell better never wear the purple and gold. Can't stand that flopping, overrated, whining fool.

And yet... I want Manu on the Lakers.

I guess because even though Manu whines and flops, he's far from overrated. Dude is the truth; Raja is a lie.

If I had to choose between Raja and Morrison, I'd take Raja and hate myself for it.

But we'd be a better team, all that matters I guess.

Kobe has been playing lazy roaming defense this whole season.

But his LOCKDOWN Defense is the best in the league imo.

Way better than Ron Artests. There's been various games where Kobe has locked guys down like Chauncey, Wade, etc and then he switches off and they go off on whoever goes to guarding him.

When he wants to be a lockdown defender, he's the best in the league imo.

But his roaming defensve is at its worst this season. Then again, for all we know he's still injured and just out there to play.

id take raja because manu is more effective with the ball in his hands...we already have those guys kobe/odom...while raja is a better 3 point shooter and will get open shots but either way manu or bell are a win win

He was playing scrubby teams, so maybe im wrong.

yup...too bad he cant look like an all-star when he plays guys as big as him

I think something that people forget (party because Kobe plays so well despite this), is that Kobe has a broken pointer finger. I know if I had a broken finger I might not be sticking my hand out there too much on defense. Getting beat on a couple of plays to preserve a season (if he went out because of playing more reckless with his finger we'd be done) is not so bad, but we as fans forget about things like that and just think he didn't lock down like we know he can.
I would disagree with you about Kobe playing lazy roaming defense all season too. The beginning of the season Kobe was fine but once he broke that finger his numbers and defense suffered.

Seriously DJ Mengba living the good life right now as a Lakers back up center. Court side seat to every games while collecting his checks. Snoozing on the bench and cracking jokes with Sasha Vujacic or clowning with Adam Morrison

To be honest, Tinker Bell would be a great pick up IMO. Solid player to come off the bench and has a consistent 3. Upgrade x100 over Sasha.

raja over manu anyday as far as the lakers are concerned. we need a guy who is a spot 3 shooter and a tough defender... raja would be cheaper aswell.

isnt fisher, farmar, and morrison all gone after this year?

ireally dont understand those guys. you think they would be playing like it was a contract year......and it is...
