Are authentic shorts same shorts players wear in game?

The M&N authentics are incredibly close (weight/thickness of mesh, waistband etc.) to the original champion shorts of the early/mid 90’s and Nike shorts of the late 90’s. I still have a bunch of authentics stored away from ‘92-98 (NBA and NCAA). I’ll dig them out and post pics once I receive my dream team shorts.

Nike definitely used a lighter mesh on a number of NCAA teams (Michigan, Syracuse and Arizona come to mind) but they still had the thick waistband.
