on a side note: i like Daniel Murphy as the starter, solid fielder and solid hitter better than endy

I feel like someone just kicked me in the nuts. Heilmans 1-6 record is unacceptable. I wish we didn't have to have him, but we got no choice. You send himdown for assignment and he would never make it back because he would get hit hard in the Minors. He has that same facial expression every god damn game. YOUWALK THE LEAD OFF HITTER THEY COME AROUND TO SCORE LIKE 60% OF THE TIME. Do these relief pitchers not know this? You can't even call the relief pitchersbecause they don't reiieve anything only add fuel to the fire. Phils and Marlins win again. This team is a joke and if anyone saw Reyes facial expressionwalking to the dugout then I think he has the same thoughts I do.

That was an awful display of pitching by the bullpen. I haven't seentoo many Mets games this season, but I have seen quite a few games lost at the hands of this crap lineup this season.

So is that how its going to be the rest of the way, pointing fingers, its this guys fault, its that guys fault, blah blah wahhh wahhhh boo hoo?

Stop.

Mets went from having the BEST bullpen in 2006 in the entire league to having a mediocre (below avg) one. Omar ships Darren Oliver and Chad Bradford (becausehe didn't want to give him a 3 yr deal).....then 2 weeks later gives Scho a 3 yr deal, re-signs steroid Mota, and brings in Sele. Omar ruined the pen, andwe have had NO middle relief the past 2 seasons, and no 8th inning guy since Duaner Sachez hasn't pitched for 2 yrs prior to this because of injury and ha**** a wall (which was expected).

You CANNOT even fault Heilman, he carried the entire team for a whole month in July, and the past few outing has been used for 2-3 innings a game almost dailybecause.....THE REST OF THE PEN HAS NOT DONE THEIR JOB. Heilman, whether you like it or not, has the best stuff out of the pen, not his fault he'soverworked.

I would expect a few more call ups, word to Neise and Kunz. If the pen doesn't improve and keeps losing leads, so be it. Its not the end of the world, andthis team will only get younger and there will be some key signings this off season for some holes to fill because they certainly need to (can't make anytrades cause of the lack of depth in the minors).

PS: I didn't know the Yankees had a "good" team.

PS: I didn't know the Yankees had a "good" team.
I don't know where this is coming from but ok.

Poor performance down the stretch of this game though, from the games that Ive seen, I find it hard to believe that Heilman has the best stuff out the pen. Andif you honestly believe that, then that's a shame seeing as how he's now 1-6 with an ERA above 5. And i'm sure its been said in here before butchanges need to be made in that bullpen asap.

I don't know what this is about/coming from

Well, that's what happens when Yankees fans come in here saying "they stink".

But ANYWAYS,

Heilman has a 96mph fastball and an 80mph changeup with a very good slider (he has been effective since he incorporated that slide a month ago), from the restof the guys in the pen that is the best stuff. When used properly and with that new effective 3rd pitch he was lights out, its not easy to dip your ERA whenyou give up 2 grand slams this season and had a horrible first month and a half.

Win/loss don't mean shhh when you have Jerry throwing him out there for 3 innings in extra innings because nobody else is available, he gets a loss givingup a HR to Pujols. Yesterday forced to pitch 2 innings because everyone else sucks and he gives up a HR which breaks a tie......he is being overworked....that's called taking unnecessary blame when the Mets are losing games they shouldn't (they shouldn't even be in these late inningsituations). Every outing its 2+ innings and he gets burnt at the end of these outings, and clueless fans want to blame it all on HIM.

While I appreciate what Omar has done in putting this franchise back on the map and contending for a playoff spot since 2005, he has no one to blame buthimself about the bullpen situation.

I will give him kudos for not making any trade deadline deals, because if he dealt any of our blue chip prospects I would have given up on him.

I see what you're saying but at the end of the day, who is responsible for the 5 blown games while Johan has been pitching? Something's gotta give, Imnot saying he's the 2nd coming of Benitez but he's had the short end of the straws more often than not.

Point is, Heilman is the LEAST of this teams problems right now, he and Joe Smith have been one of the few bright spots in this pen lately and both are beingused almost daily now and its unfortunate. Guess who leads the MLB (not NL) in innings pitched out of the pen? You guessed it....Heilman.

Even if the Mets won these last 2 games I would still be upset, because even if they do make the playoffs in the tough division they are in, where is theconfidence that the Mets pen will hold leads then? The pen started off on fire the whole first month and a half (except for Jorge Sosa and Heilman), noweveryone is struggling at the same time.

Omar has this team without a middle reliever, a TRUE 8th inning setup man (Heilman is a 7th inning man to me and Duaner has hit a wall coming back frominjury), and a closer who can close the big games. Feliciano is not as effective as he once was, and Scho is a true lefty specialist who should not pitch toanyone other than lefties. We have TOO MANY SPECIALISTS in this pen, that's the problem. Omar let 2 relievers in Oliver and Bradford simply WALK when theyare exactly what he have been missing the past two seasons, the pen wouldn't even be an issue if those two were still here.

I can't think of anyone in the pen who can pitch effectively to both R/L or consume innings.

The only positive I can see from this is Omar finally letting the younger guys play sooner than not.

2 games back doesn't even matter to me when this team with a half decent pen would be up 10 games in the division.

I straight up passed out after the 6th inning and just woke up(which is greatly unappareciated) and when I saw the final score on ESPN, I wasn't evensurprised. The bullpen is going through a very rough patch after a good July.

Wags is hard to figure out. Dude has electric stuff and is a great closer, but in the big spot, he is almost guaranteed to blow it. I can't imagine himholding a 1 run lead in Game 7 of the World Series no matter what part of the order is up for the opposing team.

With that said, I will now probably be up for the Team USA game. Who else hates sleeping and then waking up and you're like "+$%*, is it the nextday?" Woke up hella confused and now this L....

Wagner is a great closer, but lets be real......

If you're name is not Mariano or K-Rod, you do not have an extremely reliable option in pressure situations.

Hoffman leads baseball with the most saves but is the most over-rated closer of all time pitching in that peaceful city of SD, any time he has to close in apressure situation its reynolds wrap for him.

Lidge? Please....let him rack up allthe saves he wants during the regular season, Pujols scarred dude for life come playoff time.

they might have chance at the playoffs but even if they do make it, they'll get knocked out in the first round again.... guaranteed....

they don't have the starters to win playoff games... just like last year against the Indians

You guys are amazing. Not once did I bash your team or boast about the Yanks. Believe what you want, and enjoy the rest of your season (or not).

And since when has it been said that one cannot go and follow another team and give constructive criticism?

Absolutely amazing I tell you!

And you're giving me an attitude because? I don't act like this to Mets fans that troll Yankee threads.
