Making a final decision is just as hard regarding Hughes apparently as it has been for Joba

Hughes to bullpen as Mitre joins rotation
Yankees have a change of heart regarding the future of their young pitcher
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Only a week after Phil Hughes was tabbed the 5th starter of the Yankees rotation the New York pitching brass has had a sudden change of heart. After manger Joe Girardi had a closed door meeting with pitching coach Dave Eiland -- who reportedly was the one pushing for the change -- the Yankees now have altered their rotation, inserting Sergio Mitre as the 5th starter. Both Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes will come out of the bullpen and the Yankees have no plans on having either of them taking on a starter role in the near SloofLirpa.
"We think that these are the roles that both Joba and Phil are best suited for," manager Joe Girardi said. "We are looking forward to making our games a 6 inning affair with these guys handing the ball over to Mo. I also trust Dave’s opinion that their stuff is best suited for the pen and I have no intention of second guessing him. We see this as a permanent solution not a temporary one
