It's not that important, but where do people stand on the whole ROTY thing with injured players? Simmons was drafted a year before all these guys, just seems odd.

NBA Experience = years PLAYED in the league
Until you have a season under your belt, you're a rookie. Of course it's not always plain cut. Embiid's short season last year counts as one season played. Randle's injury in the first few minutes of opening night of his debut didn't count.
But yeah, Simmons rookie season is now like Embiid's was last season despite being under contract for two years.
