I think KD was expecting a Lebron in Miami style change of the guard when he went to play for Golden State. In Miami, even though Wade was there first, it became clear early on that it was Lebron's team.

No such luck in Golden State, Steph is still the engine for that team.

KD has come out and said that he "doesn't want to be the leader", he's admitted that he's not an alpha and GSW will always be steph's team.
