That.

And if there is a hard cap, his free agency contract will fall under that cap. So if he does get hurt again, any team that tries to sign him next year is going to try to fit him in their cap so he's not going to get thrown money at him like some teams would've in the past.

I'm all for a cap, but I can obviously see why the players wouldn't want a limit on how much they can earn when it hasn't been like that for so long.

Some things I think should be included in the agreement IF there is a hard cap should be...
-Rookie salaries shouldn't count against the cap, or increase the cap to take in to account those salaries.
-There should be a pay scale based on tenure in the league. If there's already a rookie scale, the next contract should fall under a scale.
-They should technically have a "franchise" tag to keep superstars on a team, but I think if you franchise a player they should be getting a max contract so if you want to keep a player so bad it could either hurt or pay off for a team.
Players that play for a team from their first day in the league or have a certain amount of years (at least 10) with that one team should be able to make more than the max (if they deserve it). For example, a player like Kobe or Dirk, they should be making max money and more, but their contract shouldn't count as much against the Lakers cap. Only the max they would make in a pay scale would count against the cap.
-another thing I was thinking about is that if they institute a cap it should come in to effect when a team's current payroll is totally off the books, so the Lakers cap would start in the 2014/15 season. Any player they sign from now that plays through that season would be on the cap. Don' know if that makes sense, don't know if my typing is translating my thoughts.

Just my little from my bathroom brainstorming, lol. I'm really not looking forward to a world without football or basketball though! Get it done!!!

Throw in the option to buy out contracts whenever teams want and I am all for that. I hate how the NBA has guaranteed contracts and you can't cut or buy a player out.

And then we'll sign Sean Marks again.

I fully understand where you're coming from, but after all the time invested into Oden, the Blazers can't let him walk without any compensation coming back. If he signs for one year or even a two to three year deal for a lower rate than $8.8 million per then what's the harm? The Blazers are capped out and have seemingly reached their ceiling already. Now if he gets a massive offer, then the Blazers should think about declining to match the offer (or better yet working a sign and trade if it's allowed in the next CBA).

Keep in mind he's still only 23 and showed he could defend and rebound in the short time he was healthy. He's probably loss athleticism due to the injuries, but I think he could still be effective on defense.

The minute he joins another team, 22-11 a night with 3 blocks a game, 80 games played a season, book it.

Don't know why I do not like the trade. I guess getting the future 1 is alright for Cleveland but I don't know why the Kings need Hickson when Thompson is still developing as well.

Not knocking the deal, just my opinion of not liking it.

So excited to have Keuster's self-applauding, arrogant, stubborn, cancerous self on our bench next season to help groom our young players...
