The Cavs were going to take on contracts? I doubt it.

it happens all the time
When did the Magic have a chance to ship out Hedo and JRich with Dwight? Houston's deal was the only one that gave them an opportunity to clear any money.
what are these new CBA / S&T rules?
Also if magic wait till next summer for a S&T they gonna end up with like 2-3 mid to late 1st rounders watch.
Magic New GM had a chance, he couldve blown up the team, shipped out Jrich / Hedo and not taking back Jameer, sucked it up for for this for the next few years and built some lottery talent, but now hes backed himself into a corner for being stubbon / greedy. damm shame, the NBA needs to step in and do something about this.
The Rockets deal was their best bet the whole time if they were going to trade him this offseason...you just answered your own question
they had a chance to ship Jrich or Hedo to rockets
He should get used to being in the back of the line with the way Minnesota is collecting these white players.I wonder how Derrick Williams feels about Minnesota repeatedly going after small forwards this summer and even being dangled for one.
Starting next offseason, if you are $4mil over luxury tax.. You cannot acquire players through S&T.
Lakers clearly are.
Nets have $75mil tied in DWill, JJ, Crash, Humph, Brook

The Nets wouldn't have worked because they still would've had to have taken back Brook Lopez on a max contract AND possibly Kris Humphries on a deal similar to what the Nets just inked, so you're essentially swapping one bad contract for another. The Lakers and Cavs weren't going to clear space and there was no reason in the world for them to even be entertaining that whole ordeal.
If Hennigan was going to trade Dwight, it would've been to Houston. None of the other deals made any sense. I just don't agree with the people acting like he's completely blown this situation...
Next offseason you'll have Dallas and Atlanta completely burning away cap space to get their hands on Dwight and/or Chris Paul. There will inevitably be other teams, too... At that point, Dwight's options are limited, so he can't make demands. In theory, they'll still be able dump Hedo or JRich on someone without taking anything back.
There will still be teams with cap space and there will still be teams desperate to sign Dwight.

The Lopez deal is a contract that kills any hope for a bad team to rebuild. For a team like the Nets, where they have his rights and they already have some pieces in place, it's fine. But a team like Orlando tearing down and building around that? It's bad business and it's stupid to think you can build any sort of real contender around it. As a piece that you think might complete the puzzle, sure. Fine. I don't hate it. But as the center of a rebuilding project?I dont know why people act like Lopez got a terrible contract, its a 4 year deal for a player near the top at his posistion (in which the league is thin at) and in his prime, its a pretty good deal for him. Now the humpy contract on the other hand is sortabut i guess you can look at in the aspect that its a good trade Chip considering its a 2 / 24 deal, so basically a 12 Millie expiring contract next year for a double double PF that runs the floor well, decent ttrade chip since the league favors that.
Honestly Dwight to dallas doesnt make sense, Dirk is the face there, plus its gonna be what? Dirk + Dwight plus filler? is that really a champ team? He goes to atlanta Its him, Smith and lou Williams cause they are gonna have to move Horford, and not smith if thats the whole reason for him going there. So atlanta has d12 + Smith + Lou + Fillers.... is that a championship team? nope.
His best chance to get a Chip / Be the face is Nets, LA he has a very good shot at a chip but thats Kobes team and everyone knows that.
He should get used to being in the back of the line with the way Minnesota is collecting these white players.
Lets say they ship out Humph / Brook wouldnt that techinically bring them out down from Luxury Tax and allow them to take D12? or that rule is set once the season is over in terms of cap / tax / etc ? Loopholes ?
So basically Nets/Lakers have to the trade dead line to get it done
great we get to hear more of this nonsense
Rockets sign their rookies. Looks like they're out of this Dwightmare for 30 days, if not longer. Guess the Magic really are gonna keep him until the deadline.
i still think 3 of those rookies are gonna be future all stars
