Official New York Yankees Offseason Thread

Do you guys prefer Lee or Crawford? Cuz it's sounding like they'll offer Crawford 7 or 8 years while holding Lee to 6. Why do you prefer one over the other?

I get Lee, but I'm not entirely sold on Crawford. Doesn't seem like a fit for the Yankees in terms of personality and he seems like he could be an Albert Haynesworth type player.

Alright with Crawford to the Red Sox it makes the Yankees a little more clear

1. Make sure we go after Cliff Lee (Last I knew they upped it to a 7 year deal)

2. If Pettitte goes (which is likely according to Yankee's front office, we need to figure out a trade for a good 4 or 5 starter)

3. Bullpen needs (Get Kerry Wood resign) (Dustin Moseley should be someone we try to keep) (I heard Mark Prior's name thrown around) (J.C. Romero, Jesse Crain, Scott Downs, Manny Delcarmen would be good guys to look at)

4. With Crawford in Boston. That frees up our lineup a bit.. Now Posada better be our DH.. Let him catch 1 game a week to keep his spirits up (being full time DH can mess with you if you are normally a position player), forget Russell Martin, and now is the time for Montero or Romine to play. I'd prefer Montero so we can keep power in our lineup but I am not opposed to either

5. We need a back up Shortstop and a Utility Player

6. Backup Outfielder (Willie Harris, Rick Ankiel)

The way I see it is our Core 4 is what causes to look "old".. Posada can easily be replaced... Jeter's leadership can't but skill wise it is not impossible.. Pettite will be hard to replace because he's a big game pitcher at the number 3 slot.. And well Mo can't be replaced..

Best case Scenario Team

SP- 1. C.C. 2. Cliff Lee 3. A.J. 4. Hughes 5. Pettitte or Ivan Nova if Pettitte leaves
Long Reliever- Dustin Moseley
Left Handed Reliever - Marte
Right Handed Reliever - Jesse Crain, Joba
Setup Pitcher - Kerry Wood
Closer- Mo

Batting Lineup
1. Jeter - R (SS)
2. Swisher - S (RF)
3. Cano - L (2B)
4. Rodriguez - R (3B)
5. Teixeira - S (1B)
6. Romero - R (C)
7. Granderson - L (CF)
8. Posada - S (C)
9. Gardener - L (LF)

Bench - Willie Harris, Golson

NEED 1 MORE RELIEVER, 2 MORE BENCH PLAYERS WHO I CAN'T FIGURE OUT

What do u guys think about acquiring Zack Greinke and possibly Soria?? With the RedSox getting a couple of big bats along with Pedroia, Ortiz, and Youkilis we gotta load up on "Pitching". If we can get Lee, Greinke, and resign Woods and Andy I think we would be favorites in the AL dispite what the RedSox picked up in the off-season....

Possible Starting Pitching rotation.

1) CC
2) Lee
3) Greinke
4) Hughes
5) AJ & Andy

Maybe AJ and Andy can alternate starts; "Andy's age", "AJ's reliability"

People need to forget about Grienke, just stop. He is not a big game pitcher, he won't survive in New York, forget it...let him go else where. It will never work here.

Soria on the other hand would be awesome since we will probably lose Wood, have Soria step in to the 8th inning role and take over for Mo in 2 yrs

Why dont we sign Soriano? If we paid farnsworth 7 mill a year Im sure 10 mill a year isnt bad. But I think Boras wants 15 ugh

I heard a lil bit about the Yankees considering it if all else fails

But will Soriano want to go from Closer to Setup guy for 2-3 years.. Probably not...

Now with Grienke... It depends what the Royals want.. They want a lot of prospects.. HELL NO.. AT best he will be a #4 starter.. No need to unload prospects for a #4...

If we could resign Wood, keep Moseley as a long reliever...  Joba & Marte as bullpen guys with Scott Downs and Jessie Crain with Mo as the closer, our bullpen would be ridiculous

Wood is the #2 priority after Cliff Lee now, if Downs risks re-signing Wood then I decline..
