scooped up a pair for the wifey... only wish my kids were big enough to wear GS sizes... but then again I'm not ready for them to get so big....

Kind of both, more so the latter.
If you win, they'll usually send you a email invoice saying we reserved your pair(and in this instance colorway) for you to purchase. They'll give you a couple of days to pay the invoice before it becomes unavailable.
