OFFICIAL Nike Air More Uptempo OG BLK/WHT 414962-002 APRIL 2016

I’m not entirely convinced some of these harder materials aren’t because of people complaining on sites like this in the past and now on social media as well. Complaining about toe creases and wrinkled/creased midsoles, which were just what happened when you, you know, wore your shoes back then. We didn’t even think or care about that stuff at the time. You can’t make shoes out of soft materials and have them simultaneously still looking basically new after 20 wears. Unfortunately Nike choose to cater to latter audience.
Nike love plastic. Meanwhile you have new balance putting marginally decent leather on the 550s for $120

I am entirely convinced that Nike solely makes decisions to use cheaper quality materials in order to save money and make more profit. Any other reasoning is kinda laughable.

Exactly this!! Some of y’all have had your heads stuck up Nikes *** for too long to realize that every pleather knit shoe you’ve purchased is an extra $150 bucks of profit for nike.

From a guy that grew up in the 90’s(born in 1987), I’ve always wondered that, also. Did you actually feel the air bubble in these full length visible air units back then?

Yea, it was softer. It kind of provided a bounce.

I never saw many burst either.

The OG air units were filled with SF6 (which sadly was found to be harmful to the earth's ozone layer). Current air units are filled with Nitrogen which doesn't really offer anything in the ways of cushioning or stability. The air units we see today are significantly smaller and are generally constructed so that there's support columns for stability and the cushioning comes from the insole and sockliner.

rainking rainking you gave me a good laugh with your theory about the stiffer materials. The hard plastics/vinyls that Nike uses for almost two decades now, don't crease - they actually fold which overall leads to a far less appealing look and is extremely uncomfortable for extended wears. There's just a glut of cheaper and low quality materials as the use of natural leathers is also tied to sustainability and saving the environment but most of us older cats know that it's just so that the latter can be resold as a 'premium' product.

Great post. Absolutely agree with what you said about today’s air bags. I didn’t even notice (from any change in feel) my 2017 AM97 Silver Bullet bag popped until I happened to see it as I was putting them on one night. That said, I do feel some bounce still from today’s Zoom bags. But other “Air” is mostly useless.
My thing about the crap materials wasn’t meant to justify it. My memory could be clouded for sure, just seemed like the era when loads of people whined about creasing kinda coincided with the borderline plastic “leather” really taking over. The complaints very well could’ve had zero to do with it and it was just a coincidence.
Either way, again, great post.

Just have learned that these are on SNKRS-JP scheduled for Feb. 22nd release and just can’t get why Nike has to keep releasing these kind of crap…. I mean, I don’t even get why these are dubbed as Trading Cards…

Most every pair I've seen lately has been extra bad. OG Black/White and Olympics are all I'll ever need of these.
