Lately, the arguments and justifications for Payton’s position are crumbling. He’s deep into a funk, averaging just 5.8 points while shooting 37.5% in his last 15 games. The Knicks have gone 11-4 during that stretch but were outscored by 68 points over 257 minutes with Payton on the floor, by far the worst plus-minus on the roster (by comparison, the Knicks outscored the opposition by 136 points with Payton’s backup, Derrick Rose, on the court. It’s a dramatic swing). Payton’s defensive rating has slipped to the worst on the roster.

RJ just needs.to learn how to dribble the damn ball. He has no handle or wiggle with the ball, so he just can't get by his defender in a 1 on 1 iso situation. His spot up jumper has vastly improved and he deserves a ton of credit for that. If he can just learn to dribble and score off the dribble, then he can become a star
