OFFICIAL NYk '22 offseason thread, RJ extended

the problem with our drafting is that we haven't been taking the BPA. whoever the current regime is at the time always thinks they're outsmarting the rest of the league by taking a prospect with a "high ceiling" or trying to fit a need. although i like Obi, and i understand that they were trying to find Randle's replacement, but at 8 Haliburton was the clear pick. especially bc we haven't had a PG in FOREVER.

This organization regardless of the front office has a hard time reaching for players in the draft. Haliburton at 8 was a reach and Donovan Mitchell at 8 was a reach, but it was clear we liked those guys. So just take them. The Knox pick was also nepotism. Everyone ahead of him was the better pick.

The draft is a crap shoot anyway, lots of luck involved, but if you really like a guy who cares if you reach.

Frank being Drafted at all was a reach, but yet we drafted him.

Frank Ntilikina?, maybe a smoke to much now but I don’t even remember that

Yea he wasn’t the reach people make him out to be. He was very highly touted because of his size length and how he was performing in Europe. He just doesn’t have a strong enough personality and ultimately what’s what kills him. His tools don’t make up for his passiveness. But missing out on Mitchell sucks. As one guy I played balled with said during his rookie year, “Mitchell probably doesn’t even realize that he can be this good.” But Snyder did a good job getting the most out of him.

We have to resign Mitch. His offensive rebound #s and PER in general have a huge impact on the game. Hes dominated every big our name was attached to.

He’s a big you resign. Sims is a back up at best and Noel should be moved.

Ranked right around where the Knicks are currently expected in draft. He has a specialty they said.

Team could use a guy that can move without the ball too.

Around the time of the draft everyone in here was asking for a prospect that fits Toppin profile. I don’t remember anyone asking for Haliburton.. Halliburton was the high ceiling prospect that fits a need.. in a log jammed back court. Remember the reason Reddish couldn’t get minutes was because of the logjam

Haliburton was the BPA, has the highest ceiling, and fits the need. he checked ALL of the boxes, but instead our FO decided 1/3 of those was good enough. what log jammed backcourt? before the draft we had Elf, Frank, and DSJR as our PGs. Haliburton is significantly better than either of those 3 that aren't even on the roster anymore. Reddish was a mid-season acquisition...this season.

i wanted them to draft Killian Hayes or haliburton... but Killian got picked before us and kinda glad we didnt get him cuz he's not that good... but I honestly thought they would pick haliburton cuz we needed a pg but nope picked obi... I can see obi improving his game slowly but sooner or later he will be good... I think they should get rid of randle and just let obi play the 4 permanently instead of spot minutes off the bench

Another kid expected around 12.

Australian kid that plays defense, playmaker but doesn’t shoot all that good. Wassup with them aussies not practicing their shots? Shoots 75% from ft so there’s hope for dude.

Deuce, RJ, Cam, Grimes & even IQ should keep the Knicks defense upper echelon so long as they’re in rotation.

Yeah efficiency is the key for him. Once he starts converting from the line that'll do wonders for him.
