On another note....I tried doing this on one of my Canon lens and couldn't get it right for nothing. You're just focusing on the damn lens right? It looks almost photoshopped.
It's harder to get this shot with smaller lenses. There's so much glass on the 85L II thatit's pretty easy to capture the shot. All you have to do is focus on the front element, either manually or in my case, focused on the writing on thefilter.

rtype3995, try the same train shots with a narrow apperture and drag the shutter abit. Showing the motion of the train can add a little more life to your photos...unless the trains themselves are your subjects.

This pictures has a lot of blur on it, not because I didn't have a tripod, but because I forgot to take off the IS before I snapped the picture - not to mention you have some ghosting because I forgot to also take off the stupid filter - maybe the blur is not do to the IS but the filter - either way - I have to re-shot this one cause I like it!
Don't worry man, I make those mistakes pretty often too

. I wasted about an hour's worth of light-trail shots by forgetting to takethe filter off back in Toronto. Some of the newer Canon IS lenses now have the ability to detect if it's tripod mounted though.

Anyway...check out my blog for some of my recent photos...plus read some stuff about my crazy life

Well finally I got my new camera after my last broke, I ended up picking up the Canon Powershot SD880 IS

I don't really take pics of my day to day life, like others do with blogs but when I do go out to events I do carry my camera with me and try to get a goodamount of pics, I'm new to all this but my next step is just learning how to take photos properly and if neccesary using applications like Photoshop tomake any adjustments. I'm def no pro at all like some people in this thread but I'd appreciate any suggestions as to where to start and move on to.

Here a some shots from recent shows I took photos of just to get an example of how some of my shots come out (by any means I wasn't trying to be"professional", my thing was if it's clear shoot it).

This pissed me off because I was on stage with them and I basically could've walked up behind or around them but my pics always had that smoke like, waterspot look in the end.

Not quite - you're focusing on the image through the lens - which should be a little nearer focused than the actual glass on the front of the lens. Trickyto get spot on at first.

I'm not talking about 40D my dude - I'm looking more along the lines of your equipment -
roll.gif
- hell now that you got yours, do you mind letting me know what's good withthe site? I don't want to do 3K when you probably can find it for 2.5 or something - lol

Also, it has HD Video? Like it?

WoW - I would of have been really mad if I waste a hour on those pictures - that's just a mile away and I was coming back from selling the18-55IS for 90 bucks so I said why not. I hate to continue doing those mistake especially if I'm on a schedule and in vacation - SMH - but now I dont feelas bad .. lol

^^^^Is that a buy/sell forum? I still have a hard time buying stuff off of people even if they want to use Paypal and all.

Alright, so I just found out I got a bonus at my job and it will be enough to get the Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens. I guess have to order it online but have onlyfound them for about $560 or so. Anyone know of a great site to buy lenses? I just know of B and H photography but I am wondering if I am missing anythingaside from Amazon and other such stuff.....

oh yeah paolo, i still check the fredmiranda forums ever since you linked me for the fisheye.

i loveeee checkin it out. too bad i don't have anymore money. haha

^ haha, I'm trying to stay away from it. It's so tempting to get deals on some lenses and accessories but I gotta control myself especially sinceI'm now satisfied with what I have.

Fong, don't be worried about dealing on FredMiranda. They have a feedback system plus sellers have to PayPal a fee to enlist items. In other words, theadmins have the sellers' info in case of fraud.

Made my first attempt at creating a light-box for product photography. I forgot to use a lower iso and still gotta tweak the lighting but I don't thinkit's bad for a first try.

Thanks Paolo for reminding me I still have to make a lightbox. I've had that on my to-do list since December.

Just never took the effort to gather thematerials.

and some good news... I found my camera. It wasnt stolen, I just forgot it at work.
