Official Pizza Appreciation!

Had Di Fara’s a few days ago. This is from their south street seaport location.

a couple years ago my homie and i learned about "SSBP" or "South Shore Bar Pizza" in MA. a type of pizza created and done in towns/cities south of boston in southeast MA. i'm home in MA for the holidays so we finally did a mini pizza crawl to check a few out. it's basically a thin-ish pan pizza with crispy edges and a cheese blend that includes cheddar. they also tend to come up with crazy topping combos (cheeseburger, bbq pulled pork, etc) in addition to the traditional toppings but we kept it simple to get a good taste. the "burnt edges" you see are actually caramelized cheese, not burnt crust. very tasty.

Cape Cod Cafe...the OG and creator of this style supposedly. pizza was good but not great:

Tinray's Family Restaurant. this was really good....

Buddy's Union Villa...just awesome. had to try onions and peppers, word to zmaqbool zmaqbool

this style and these pizzas were very good. i still prefer more traditional NY, sicilian, grandma, and detroit style but i would gladly eat these on a regular basis. highly recommended if you find yourself in the south shore in MA

My man with the GOAT onions & peppers combo 🔥. I've seen a lot of bar pies through one bite reviews but have never personally tried that style. The caramelized cheese crust one looks awesome. Tinrays's looks super rich with excellent looking cheese 🤤. I really need to get to Detroit & try some 🍕out there. I've heard a lot of good things in general about South Shore, Mass.

Oh yea I’m gonna have to try those. I’ve seen those frozen cape cod ones but never got one

I like the same style pizza as Portnoy, thin and crispy. Never heard of bar pies before him but they look right up my alley

Saw this review several weeks ago

Checked the map, Bordentown is about an hour drive from burbs of Philly. So I figured, one Tuesday morning, I said what the heck...skipped breakfast and left at 9:30 am...

First off, yeah Portnoy is an huge *** in his personal life (the stories are rather appalling), but I do give him all the credit for helping out these pizza shops during Covid. That now out of the way, on to the pizza....

OH.MY.GOD!!! 😱😱😱 This is freaking amazing pizza, I kid you not!!! Like insanely good! This is their tomato pie, which somehow is a Trenton area thing. We have tomato pie in the Philly area and burbs (those on here from the area know what I'm talking about with Corropolese in Conchohocken, to give an example), but it's not this (ours is a cooked square piece of dough, with cold sauce on top & parmesan cheese sprinkled on top). This is a totally different thing. It's pizza just more sauce that has small tomato chunks with less cheese (but there's plenty of it).

I really can't describe it, but it's super light & crispy. And I never had a pizza this thin. At lease none in my area. This is a 16" pie. I'm 6' 195-200 and I finished this whole thing myself. Ate 4 & a half slices in the car. Brought the last 3 home and heated it up and finished it. It's that freaking good (again, I didn't eat breakfast, so that helped me polish it off, lol).

It was so good, I had my friends drive over during the week (a week later) to have some for lunch and they all said the same thing. It's amazing and worth the drive. Now, I'm TOTALLY jaded as there isn't anything like this around me AT ALL!! 😞 I want more of it. All I can say, if your anywhere close to 206 in Bordentown NJ, just GO!! You won't be disappointed! 👍👍👍

I’ve had Cape Cod Cafe. Pretty good. They sell it frozen in grocery stores too. You should try to get out to Worcester some time. Olo and I Love Frankie’s both worth the trek IMO

yeah Ledo's is great when done right. that barstool douche is a moron anyway. can't trust his taste in pizza
100 % agree. He has close to 0 knowledge on what makes a good pizza. His reviews are totally based on entertainment value. Reason I watch him though is to see what's out there. I've found out & tried a few really good spots around my area because of his reviews. If I like what I see on his review & the spot being reviewed appeals to me I'll dig deeper on the spot by Yelping it & bookmarking it & eventually get out there to try it. I've got a list of spots I'll be going to mid Dec in NJ, can't wait. I will say this although he is pretty douchey he has helped a lot of small businesses survive during covid so he's not all bad imo.

100% fair point and his one good redeeming quality

It's definitely his 1 redeeming quality. His lothario reputation is frankly ****** up in how he treats girls like they are dirt and good for one thing (if you get my drift). Total scumbag in that aspect (there are loads of reports to read about).
