   • A receiver attempting to catch a pass or one who has not completed a catch and hasn’t had time to protect himself or hasn’t clearly become a runner. If the receiver/runner is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player

Thomas had just caught the ball and was barely turning around. You consider that ample time to protect himself/avoid a tackle?
Keep your stoneface and get off your high horse, because you know about as much as the next guy.

GMS...thomas had that ball and was running for the first down/end zone....PLENTY of time. he's the one who put his head down to run through the hit.

Don't worry guys, Alex Smith has already earned his extension. Ryan Fitzpatrick money.

Looked at again. First time it looked like Whitner closed in as soon as he caught it. Ya'll right.

no problem ... lot of questions on twitter too ... but since u broke out the rule book i had to ignore ur last response ...
but it's more for Qb's and Wr's ... rb's usually initiate contact when they lower their pads so that's what i meant w/o wanting to type that out ... i get lazy
