My only hope is that Mitch quietly flipped the script and said he would whip enough GQP senators to convict, if they skip witnesses and help them all save their own skin.

I know that hope is misguided. But it's like the lottery. Maybe today is the day, everything becomes okay?

I can rationalize it but it is incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Even if it wasn't practical to impeach Trump, you still go for it all the way.

Maybe the administration expressed some desire to move on from impeachment so that they could work on Biden's agenda. But today still feels like a betrayal.

When you are dealing with Republican scumbags that have no moral compass you were never going to get the outcome we deserved. With that said, I want Trump around. Him and the Q crazies are great for us from a governance perspective. Marjorie and her friends are exactly what the Republican party deserves. Going to be fun when Trump causes these idiots to continue to take indefensible positions while our team comes through on the promises and priorities that we want.

I understand the sentiment but nothing the good guys did was going to flip enough senators to get the conviction. I've stayed quiet on this impeachment thing, but I didn't want Trump to get get convicted. These same fools that vote to acquit him will be running in a crowded presidential field in 2024 with Trump or his kids running. These idiots hurt their own future political plans without realizing it. Insurrections are bad for business and big GOP donors don't want any part of that. Think of why most of us are on NT. At one point in time we were huge heads that love authentic worn by some of our favorite sports stars. Outside of ninjahood none of us want to rock fakes or Grey markets kicks. The same can be said for politics. Trump fans want him not Grey market versions of him. Let him destroy the Republican party from within. I don't want Joe's positive agenda to get bogged down by talking about a one term loser and the betas that kiss up to him. Time is not on our side to get things done and the sooner we get our agenda passed the better.

It's not based on any policy or rhetoric (of which Donny has none). Also, if any of these people think they're getting an endorsement from Trump, then they're in for a rude awakening. Thanks for the positivity in here. Ultimately this had almost no chance of conviction and even then no real consequences other than Republicans being able to distance themselves from Trump. It's clear they are not going to do that even though they lost by 7 million votes... and that was before the insurrection.

They'll reap what they've sowed. And the Democrats need to work on consequential issues like the stimulus and appointments and more.

And there are still plenty of other investigations into Trump and his people to keep him and his lawyers busy.

The most important GOP donors operate multinationals that operate in countries with various governing styles, including anti-liberal, anti-democratic ones. If the GOP can guarantee a certain level of economic stability under an overtly authoritarian system, those donors will continue to fund them.

They have BLM plastered all over their websites/stores here, but nothing about Uyghurs in their businesses located in China.
