1/ he makes pretty good money already
2/ he's among those who are the least likely to lose their jobs due to automation.

How do you write code for a living but your spelling is all ****ed up?

I think most modern PLC is click to "code". I don't think the skillset transfers to general purpose development. I'm not sure you really need to know how to spell.
