I feel your frustration, but name one example where “some form of dictatorship” ended well.
Ideally, and I think at this point a reasonable expectation would be that, the experiment of banning the GOP from government would end better than the current experiment that allows the GOP to be a part of the government.

If that means we get a Democratic dictatorship? Fine. I don't see it ending worse than the current timeline.

A civil war against maga fools does sound kinda good. A liberal army uniform needs to look cool though.

I know what it is, if we’re really going to argue about what dictator is best I’m going for a pro labor dictator.

In this short exchange neoliberal means an old Democrat, and then it means some that is not pro labor.

**** changes to fit the argument. Just like conservatives do with "woke".

I don’t believe in the free market

I’m not a capitalist, most people aren’t. They are somebody’s capitol aka a worker.

A neo liberal isn’t necessarily anti worker but they aren’t gonna put the worker first.

I don’t want my dictator’s unions busted in favor of cheaper freight.

Ghana.

However, it is the proverbial exception that proves the rule when it comes to benevolent dictators.

Well, this just inspired me to learn about Nkrumah at the Wiki level. Very interesting.

I might argue that the military coup that ended his benevolent dictatorship and led to a pretty dark few decades would have been less successful against a truly democratic government, but that just seems like endless hypotheticals, so I guess, yeah… Ghana.

No offense, put out your argument is not coherent

I should know better than to insert myself here, but it’s possible “old Democrat” here is referring to Clinton-era politicians in the DP who definitely tried to incorporate more market economics into the left.

Normally, I think of “old Democrat” as FDR, etc… but I think younger people don’t?

Insert yourself wherever you want, it’s a thread on a sneaker forum and we’re currently posting our favorite dictators.

No need to try and church it up. It’s not a thesis paper.

I didn’t know that word was such a big deal.

Which Democrat in office right now, that was in office when Clinton was president, and still has the same economic policies as 1990s Clinton?

If the current democratic admin took Donald trump’s house by storm and shot him, beheaded Ronny meatballs in the gallows and locked up manchin and sinema in rikers for being gop sympathizers.

Then followed with jailing the rest what would type of dictatorship would it be?

Are we seriously going to try to predict what an authoritarian government established by the modern Democratic Party would look like? Or even suggest that somehow they’d be some deterministic or even somewhat prdictable function of current sitting politicians?

I think his broader point is that given the history of the Democratic Party, including its (temporary?) embrace of some neo-liberal ideas in the 90’s, he doesn’t think they can be entrusted to be good dictators. Or at least that’s my perhaps charitable reading of his argument.

And I find little to debate there.

 Pretty much, it’s a joke topic.

I don’t want any dictators but it’s a funny discussion.
