:wow:Books on James Baldwin, Black history, Mexican-American war history, women of Nigeria, El Salvador, Black aviators, etc...

A lot of folks downplay what DeSantis is doing in Florida, but the NAACP's advisory is not alarmist at all.

In a perfect world, there would be no social injustice. In a nearly perfect world, social injustice would be challenged where ever it pops up because everyone is acting in a perfectly selfless manner. In the world in which we live, appeals to self interest and safety resonate with people. Patriarchy kills men, white supremacy kills white people, and transphobia harms a lot of cis people because of the simple fact that most people who get gender affirming care are cis.

There's also another element as play which is ableism. Just as we have not defeated white supremacy, patriarchy, etc. we have not defeated eugenics, let alone ableism. In addition to transphobia, there is the belief that cis teens getting care for issues like an eating disorder or imbalanced hormones are weak people who should not be treated and that unless you can recover from a medical condition purely through lifestyle changes, you are subhuman. And this all loops back to white supremacy and settler colonialism because conservatives see themselves and there fellow whites as having to be in a state of para military readiness in order to respond to what they see as the inevitable rebellion/backlash from colonized people. As a result, they see trans people and really anyone whose body needs continuous treatment as being unwilling or unable to become or to birth future white warriors and therefore should be left to die.

It's dysfunction on top of more dysfunction and at some point the calculate has to be that this house's foundations are so rotten that they need to be destroyed and we simply start over.

"Lets just say it like this when donald trump was president my pockets were fat" are you serious?

The general public's failure to think in systems, and short memory, allows Republicans to make life worse for everyone and repeatedly get away with it.

A reminder that when they come up with something out of thin air, like "CRT", to rail against, they have specific intent behind it. It may seem random and nonsensical, but there is almost always a plan as to how they'll use momentum from it to minimize and marginalize youth, minorities, and progressives in general.
