Blind idealism tends to be the domain of 3rd party voters though.
They're the ones who refuse to acknowledge the facts around the American electoral system and get upset anytime they're pointed out.
Y'all wanna vote like we had proportional representation when we live under a "winner take all" system.

My wife was stressing last night because our friend in PG county had a multi-hour wait to vote early last week.
I kept on telling her, “We live in Takoma Park”
In and out of the state/national in 5 minutes with complimentary donuts.
Local was a bit longer because one of the 3 candidates for council in our Ward pitched us for 5 minutes.

Sadly, out of 20ish or so local/statewide races, only ONE had a Democrat running. I’m so tired of Republicans running unopposed here. And people wonder why change is slow in the Deep South—you have the same MFs running things year after year after year.

I was on a boat off the coast of Antarctica in 2008 when Obama was elected and it was pretty awesome because it hadn’t been at the front of my thoughts leading up to the election. The captain just came on the loudspeaker and was like “if you’re interested in US politics, the United States has elected Barack Obama as its new president” which was followed by cheers from people on the boat. Then, back to chillin with penguins on the beach. I highly recommend this idea.

I’m having Deja vu of going to bed at something like 4am safe in the knowledge that Al Gore was the president of the United States - and then waking up and watching tv in disbelief. That was rough.
