for a long time the idea was there was no cost to moving to the left culturally

there was no cost to moving to the left on policy.

people thought "demographics are destiny" and dems could just make it up with black and latino voters.

people pushed this delusion,

and now dems are losing moderate black and latino voters and not making it up with white people.

even if by some miracle she pulls this out.

Dems have to finally be real about the electorate.
as the black vote is less connected to the black church, and as Latino voters become more comfortable with the republican party.

It's just way too narrow a path, to be the party of college educated white suburbanites attached to a declining black voter base.

IMO getting into the minutia of what the Dems could have or should have did is to lose sight of the forest for the trees.

These people are bigots and flaming racists and this country has a ton of people who support that ideology. That's the story here.

Trump is an idiot. His base are full of idiots. But I think, in 2024 (in large part due to trump's win in 2016) he stoked the flames of what's signature to this country: Overt racism, overt sexism, toxic masculinity, misogyny, when you find a superstar white politician that can lean into those ethos in 2024...they're going to be incredibly hard to beat.

They'll color their reasoning for supporting trump with 'inflation' 'immigration' but it's been proven that a ton of Trump's base doesn't even know what those things are. They are supporting him because he represents an idea.

The reality is, without an Obama level, generational superstar candidate, in 2024 you're going to have a hard time defeating him...especially if it's a black woman.

the American education system is largely to blame for why Trump is so popular nowadays. There's legitimately large portions of voters that are 18-25 that get almost all of their political exposure via TikTok and IG. I'm not saying if you vote for Trump you're dumb, but I can confidently state that any dumb person I went to HS with is a Trump supporter

Where the hell you been man

Trump is a convicted felon, r@pist, habitual liar, who presided over a real life insurrection.

He's literally right now facing charges for trying to cheat in Georgia in 2020.

The idea that the Dems could overcome that w/o a superstar politician was a reach IMO Biden worked because he was the VP to the last true superstar democratic nominee.

W/o that, you're at the mercy of an entire country who's been red pilled, and a bunch of men (and women) who are red pilled out and have listened to one too many Joe rogan pods fr.
