botom line If Trump is within 3 nationally he's got a shot,

hell need a polling error according to the experts but still a sizable shot...

Thing is black people make up sizeable mirites in swing states while many Latino votes are in blue states.

and swing states with latino's got lots of non colege grad whites to offset latino vote like Arizaona, nevada ect.

While most Chicanos are living in blue California and red Texas, they still have fundamentally altered the electoral college map simply by flipping Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado. Add to that the Central Americans in Northern Virginia and the fact that Virginia is now a Northeastern State, and we have a fairly small number of Latino Americans creating a very narrow path for any GOP nominee.

The 2004 Bush strategy was based on the assumption that the entire inland West and the entire South (minus Florida) were all easy pickups. From there, the Republicans were able to eke out wins in Ohio and Florida and win the election.

Because Colorado and Virginia are now solid blue States, Trump has to not only win Florida and Ohio, he has to take Pennsylvania or Michigan or Wisconsin, aka the States where Republican candidates go to die.

That's coalition politics at its best. Latinos out West; black folks in Detroit and Milwaukee; woke and white NPR donors in Minnesota and Wisconsin all deny Trump electoral college votes and they force Trump to beg Philadelphia residents, many of whom are Muslim, for their votes. I think we can guess how he will be received.

Increasingly, this is no Country for angry, old, white men.

Lol OKB my post was in reference to the latest article posted, which talked about how Trump may have lost Nevada due to Latino turnout

That is the one disadvantage of living in a well run, resource rich place, the wait at the polls in Central Coast California is anywhere between zero and five minutes.

Sure it is unconscionable and unconstitutional when folks have to stand in line for hours but there is the silver lining of the impromptu party.

I tell people your caucus story IRL. You guys had pimps and it was in a casino. My primary vote was cast at an elementary school, which is across the street from a Lutheran church. It was as NPR as you can get without actually being in Minnesota.

10% into this book on the History of the FBI...I'm shook. :lol

The FBI, with a president Trump is a truly terrifying notion and the fact that the entire FBI is so eager to make him president makes it doubly terrifying.

I mean the main thesis of the book seems to be that the FBI is in a constant battle against the American people to expand the scope of it's influence, and we really aren't that far removed from FBI being a partisan reactionary authoritarian secret police force.

we could back to a quickness under prsident Trump.

Any predictions on when the race "effectively" will be over? I know technically it won't be called until the west coast states close, but whenever NC or FL is called in favor of Hillary this thing is a Reynolds wrap. I'm going to say it's just as the mountain time zone polls close at 600 PST.

If I had Faux News on my phone I'd want to watch it just to laugh. Actually better contest, predict the Electoral College numbers:

I got Trillary 322 to Drumpf 216

Even though I don't think trump ever getting this close to the whitehouse was his plan, and would like to think the second it is over hand he will just peace out and do his TV channel, I feel like trump is going to drag this out regardless of if it is close or not.

He'll drag it out. Probably try to ask for recounts in the big states that he'll lose in and cry sabotage.

It won't get called any earlier than 11:00 pm Eastern.

just watched bill Maher from last night. best part was when he said that this election is different, that he disagreed with bush, McCain, and Romney, but at least they were honorable men. and that he and the rest of the country went too far in their attacks on them at times.

the guest in the show made a good point though that didn't really register with Maher. the idea is that this all started when we first started eroding institutions that are really the safeguards of truth and democracy. things like the NY times or political negotiations. and the blame, while it mostly falls on stuff coming from the right wing, also falls on some on the left.

part of it is the parroting of conspiracy theories, which trump has owned this year, but in the past the left has been guilty of pushing non-scientific ideas. anti-vaccination or anti-GMO wasn't a purely right wing thing in the past. true, this year trump has managed to consolidate most of these lunatics on his side, but that lunacy is not traditionally a purely Republican or right-leaning phenomenon. if anything, Republicans in my lifetime have been the party against that, at least before Obama became president.

anyway, the whole point of my long rant is that institutions are key safeguards. and, while we can disagree on liberal/progressive/conservative ideas and what direction to go in, the real danger with trump and the current climate is this legitimization of conspiracies and the fringe. the Republicans are to blame for making their party permissive to the fringe in 2009. but in general both the right and the left need to recognize how dangerous it is and be willing to reject it.

meh, dude came off whiney...to me

like, the reason you aren't held in such high regard is because yall aren't exceptional.

a lot of these people are very marginal

and expect the respect of people who were exceptional.

NY Times, for example (since they were brought up)

Hiring practices[edit]
On April 28, 2016, Levien and Times company CEO Mark Thompson were named in a 2016 federal class action lawsuit that claimed the advertising department purged older black employees and denied others' promotions because they favored younger whites.]

like,

no,

you can't be the last stand for logic and reason and everyone doesn't have to listen to the words you print....because of things like this.

i don't read my local paper, the columbus dispatch, for the exact same reason.

stop whining about getting no respect and earn some.

(there is a point to be made about the impact of ignorance on a democracy, tho)

I recommend them to a lot of people.

But ninja said they're not a monolith like black ppl even though he won't post the polls or percentages on Latinos actually voting for dumb Donald.

So obviously that means it's a good thing for his side.

THE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS RESET IS UPON US!

I am sure that many of you know the story of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, as they were spies for the Soviets in the 40's, and then executed in 1953 by the US government. I do not know if Donald Chump is that derply in cahoots with Russia, bur after he loses this election, do any of you think that he and his family should be kicked out of the U S A, because of his attempt to thwart our democratic system?

Him openly encouraging Russia and China to hack and try to find e-mails that could possibly contain national secrets at one of his bigotry rallies should've been an outrage, but as usual with him, they just let it slide.

As an avid watcher of their Crash Course channel, I agree. They make complex topics easily accessible, even for someone like me who doesn't live in the US or speaks English as a native language.
