***Official Political Discussion Thread***

imo this is much less about Gaza and much more about non white conservative people realizing they don't need to vote for democrats.

Tons of stories before Gaza about dearborn muslims turning away from the democratic party over LGBT issues.

Bet they'll regret their dumb religious fanaticism when they get rounded up and sent back home.

I’ll never understand this mentality.. but then again, that’s probably why I never joined a frat or now that I’m older I’d never join the lodge or some sh

I’m not going go through some shh and then turn around and get joy because it’s my chance to now do it to others
I feel the same thing about parents that purposely want their kids to know struggle simply because they also did just to learn some lesson :{

Ideally you want them and other folks to not have to face the same obstacles and still get similar access to opportunities but that's not the mindset in a hyper-individualistic 'I already got mine' culture

You don’t get it. A lot of Latinos see themselves as White (or are White). A lot of Latinos are several generations in the US. Probably don’t even speak Spanish, have any real connection to their culture. A lot of them hear the rhetoric and think “He’s not talking about me”, “I’m not an immigrant, my parents aren’t immigrants”. Latinos aren’t all Brown- many are White, many are Black, there are even Asian Latinos. Latin America is more complicated than politicians think. More nuanced.

They're about to find out very quick that they are not considered white. I mean, I can identify as a 6'5" black guy who can dunk a basketball. Doesn't mean the government will recognize it.

Or Trump was just a generational candidate like Obama was. Which is hard to accept :lol I still don't see how the GOP continues on when he drops dead.
Biden dropped the ball on immigration. It really is the only issue Trump won on. The economy is good. Even maga republican I know acknowledge this. GDP grew more under Biden than trump. Republican takes over with republicans admitting the economy is good?!

Not trying to undermine the singularity that is trump, just that I feel it removes ownership that dems dropped the ball.

Dems just don’t get it. Out of touch.

THE GUY THEY ARE VOTING FOR HATES THEM AND WANTS TO SEND THEM BACK BECAUSE HE IS A RACIST *******. There's no "complexity" to it. All brown people must go, under his watch.

“Well he only hates the ones crossing the border” theyll say.

“He only hates the ones who are in gangs and committing crime”

“He only hates mexicans, venezuelans, and puerto ricans”

Plus the latinos who are poor and working three jobs dont have time to vote. We needed them to show up but they didnt. You think they think Trump or Kamala will help them with that.

People cant act like it’s just us. Blacks, muslims, and women voted for Trump too.

The latinos i know who voted for Trump were always talking about a year long pride month, gays kissing on tv, teaching of homosexuality, and allowing people to just walk into stores to steal.

Thats what they would always tell me.

Lastly, the amount of latinos who vote republican is under reported since some latinos likely report themselves at White. You think Ted Cruz checks the latino box on a form.

Anyway im rambling now cuz im coping and pissed off

I feel the same thing about parents that purposely want their kids to know struggle simply because they also did just to learn some lesson :{

Ideally you want them and other folks to have it easier and still get similar access to opportunities but that's not the mindset in a hyper-individualistic 'I already got mine' culture

That can also be a double edged sword if the kid grows up with a sense of entitlement. You have to instill values in them so that they appreciate what they have, and seek to take it further than you did. Easier said than done , as we live in a hyper-individualistic society, as you mentioned. Same can apply to migrants, as we are seeing.

So the Latinos that are here legally don’t want the illegals?
It happens all the time, I got mines and they pull the ladder behind them. They forget the **** their parents or grandparents might have went thru for them to even have that opportunity. That’s the demographic that pisses me of the most. It’s an instant deal breaker for me and I’ll cut you off if I find out you just pull that ****. Blocked two people today because of that.

So we're hoping for a Hail Mary, to put it in Walz terms. I'm gonna turn **** off and hope for the best. Fingers crossed we're still counting votes in the early hours in WI and PA.

We're right where we were in 2020. Just let the votes come in.

for years moderate and conservative black and latino people just voted democrat as a matter of habit.

democratic party moved further to the left but because of institutions like the black church, they were able to maintain high black support despite moving to the left.

younger black men especially are less connected to these institutions, so at some point the dam was going to break.

eventually black and brown voters would feel more comfortable voting republican.

Dems need to come to terms with this. crying about racism and sexism is a waste of time.

This is nothing new.. the easiest examples of this are the Irish, Italians and Greeks

Go watch some old movies (like the godfather) and check how they spoke about those groups and how quickly those groups have forgotten and now are quick to turn around on other marginalized groups

But people don’t realize the degree of self hate and skin complexion issues people got going globally and how quick they are to shut the door behind them or disparage some of their own people

But Hispanics are infamous for “I’m not black, I’m Puerto Rican” or some other BS to avoid calling themselves black

Whole country full of idiots. It pains me to see that the race is this close. Like how the **** how? Even a smooth brained Koala can see Trump for the incompetent clown that he is. At this point, there's a part of me that wants him to win just so he can inflict his brand of maximum carnage, which will hurt the very people that voted for him the most.

"I wish I had enough poison for the whole pack of you. I would gladly give my life to watch you all swallow it." TR.

The trans surgery in prison ad I think really worked for Trump,

not because of the specifics of the trans surgery.

fundamentally it was a reminder to moderate black and brown people that the democrats are weird, and focused on weird stuff that is culturally left
and college educated.

inflation is high, inflation was low under trump, the border looks bad, and dems are too sensitive to deal with it.

Straight Stockholm syndrome and weird white supremacy. I've heard from sooooo many minorities, middle eastern, Spanish, Puerto Rican, who's families were immigrants that now view themselves as white and hate immigration and all of the foreigners. They definitely played a major part in this election. 'Former children of immigrants that now view themselves as white and hate minorities'.

Chaldeans in Michigan SWEAR they are white.

The rhetoric makes it easy to forget that Biden deported even more undocumented folks than Trump and drew up the most comprehensive and punitive immigration bill ever, with bi-partisan help, and it still got shot down with 1 call from Trump :lol.

Kamala didn't even have a path to citizenship on her platform. Dems moved more on immigration, to the point of a tougher bill than any GOP administration ever put forth, than at any other point in my life and it still never moved the needle one bit or pierced the national echo chamber.

The narrative and reality never matched there but the details and facts have never been the point here like we see time and time again :lol

It's the messaging and letting Repubs dominate the discussion on their terms that always handicaps Dems

by the time Kamala pivoted and Biden started taking it seriously it was too late. the damage had been done.

voters don't like chaotic immigration. period.

we've seen this in canada. going from one of the most pro immigration to anti immigration in the span of like 4 years.

people hate it. Dems have to accept this.

Kamala dropped her support for the DREAMER act and Dems moved more on immigration, to the point of a tougher bill than any GOP administration ever put forth, than at any other point in my life and it still never moved the needle one bit or pierced the national echo chamber.

The narrative and reality never matched up there but the details and facts have never been the point here like we see time and time again :lol. Yarn spinning about 'migrant caravans', illegals getting supposed 'benefits' and incessant fear mongering is salient and works very effectively with this electorate.
