The rhetoric makes it easy to forget that Biden deported even more undocumented folks than Trump ever did and drew up the most comprehensive and punitive immigration bill ever, with bi-partisan help, and it still got shot down with 1 call from Trump

Kamala dropped her support for the DREAMER act and Dems moved more on immigration, to the point of a tougher bill than any GOP administration ever put forth, than at any other point in my life and it still never moved the needle one bit or pierced the national echo chamber.

The narrative and reality never matched up there but the details and facts have never been the point here like we see time and time again . Yarn spinning about 'migrant caravans', illegals getting supposed 'benefits' and incessant fear mongering is salient and works very effectively with this electorate.

It's the messaging and letting Repubs dominate the discussion on their terms that always handicaps Dems

Sure Trump went back to dog whistles and caravans and apartment takeovers but the dems let him use the nonsense again instead of handicapping.

Trump **** on Obama non stop but he was at least wise enough to expand on immigration based executive orders Obama put in place, policies that made sense, policies that Kamala could have used as examples on how she would govern differently.

My colleague told me this the other week when her parents first arrived in Canada.
They faced a lot of backlash and she remembers going to the grocery store and the manager told them "we don't have your people's food here"
It took a long time for them to be accepted (they are from Italy).

People really don’t get, that we are not that far removed from a whole lot more people being othered

It amazes me that instead of empathy how quick those groups are to turn and want to fit right in with those who treated them horrifically and saw them as less than

Think about the types of people you knew since you were a kid.

2.0 GPA, always disrupting class, always in detention, fighting with teachers, making constant penis jokes, vandalizing @&@&, generally being the most annoying and obnoxious person you can thing of but somehow still being one of the most popular kids in school. In most civilized countries, this type of kid would be the one being bullied for being a complete idiot, but over here they’re idolized while people who want to focus in class get laughed at for trying too hard.

Those are the types of kids that grew up to become the people you and I might hate but a large percentage of Americans find entertaining and “real”.


Look at the types of people who are always in the spotlight in this country. When you have to keep saying “who the hell is actually a fan of Logan Paul, Kanye, (insert any of the other thousands of obnoxious celebrities here)” you’ll realize that you’re in the minority of people who look down on this type of behavior. Trump is just another one of those people. He’s not an exception

They have a louder voice these days too due to social media.

The only people that should feel like they let anybody down are the ones who sat on the sidelines and couldn't be bothered to vote. You and anybody else who put in any work at all, even a simple casting of a ballot, shouldn't feel ashamed at all. Disappointed in the country? Of course. Tonight will hurt and it's normal to take a breath to recoup. We will keep fighting and we'll find a way to win again. And that will feel glorious. The work never ends.
