Meth banned the wind from this thread for 30 days

We can now take a nice deep breath without taking the smell of bigotry, ignorance, struggle, and Adobo

I don't know why so many of you are happy with him being banned when you could've banned him yourself all along by simply clicking on "ignore". I've done it and NEVER looked back. You're only giving him satisfaction by replying to his trolling. And the more you reply, the more satisfaction you give him.

In fact, it would be waaay better if he saw that nobody was replying to his posts and giving him attention than him getting banned. He probably thinks that being banned is an accomplishment.

Dude whatever

No matter if you ignore him or not, someone should not be allowed to spew racial bigotry and xenophobia on NT and especially should not be allowed to use it to troll other members.

Even if everyone ignored him completely, his post would still be a problem and I should still wanted to see someone like him removed from threads and eventually the board.

But bad ideas and racial ignorance should and a minimum be beaten back, and torn apart. If you don't want to take part or engage, then cool, do you. But you don't see the people that do engage constantly lecturing the ones that don't on how they should be doing more to attack the vile ignorance people like Ninja spew.

Listen he is gone for a month. I am not gonna waste my time talking about him anymore than I have. He will act like a buffoon when he comes back, like always, but right now I don't give a damn about the content of his post or how to best engage him. That's because for the next couple weeks I and no one else have to.

At least the "liberal Hollywood coastal elite" had the balls to admit their crimes.

Are there no conservative-leaning women's rights organizations out there to call them out in this?

Conservative/women's rights

Pick one.

just when i think things have hit rock bottom, it gets even worse. amazing.
It's good to remember that there is no such thing as rock bottom for da Don. Rather than hitting solid bedrock when he reaches a new low, it's just gravel and sooner or later he'll dig through it and find a new low. Rinse and repeat. In a way it's somewhat impressive.

Nazi Germany is seen by historians as a reaction to WW1 and the Great Depression.

our current political situation will be seen by historians as a reaction to having had a black president. that's essentially what all this is. sprinkle in some good old-fashioned disdain for women and some modern propaganda (social media) and that's all it took.

there is no "low" here. trump isn't sliding down a hole. he's sitting at the other end, continually pulling at the world to come down with him. he's doing so opportunistically, so the more space he is given the harder he'll try.

there is an awful article today in the NY times profiling a Nazi American... here's a good reaction to it:

Let's talk about the banality of evil.

At one point in the article, there is a mention of a post from the guy depicting a street full of happy white people with swatzikas everywhere. Then he asks what is supposed to be unappealing about it.

All you have to do to agree with his vision is believe that it isn't so bad if many people suffer in order to make us happy. As a right-leaning capitalist society, the US population at large has already been wired to ignore everything that goes into making the things we consume (look into resource extraction to understand the ugly side of our system). Including "lesser" Americans in the basket of "people we don't care about" is only a step further that some have chosen to take.

I’ve always found the classic American dream a bit like strange in that way - screw you because I’ve got mine! 50 years ago it was definitely easier to become successful through hard work but now the rise of that mode of thinking maybe makes sense.

Erza Klein summarizes it pretty well....

And the Times responded....

https://nyti.ms/2i8II79

It story reads like the author just had a weird curiosity he wanted to explore. He even admits in the piece he didn't gain much insight. It is just more acting surprised that regular relatable white folk can also believe in some vile ****.

The Atlantic's story is much better long form profile or someone with that ideology.

The Atlantic "The making of an American nazi" was excellent in my opinion. The NYT article not so much.
Unlike the Atlantic piece, it comes off as rather pointless and I don't really see any value in it. Due to the lack of substance and tone, it's hard not to think of normalization in some way regardless of the intent.
