Gary Cohn thought he'd join the Trump administration get his tax cut and walk out a rich man.
He didn't realize that first he would have to humiliate himself, thoroughly and completely.
Shed himself of every shred of dignity and then...only then would he get his tax cut.

Reminds me of a quote from one of my favorite films "a man for all seasons"....Someone commits perjury in order to be named the chancellor of whales. and Sir Thomas Moore turns to him and says
"it profits a man nothing to sell his soul for the WHOLE WORLD...but you did it....for whales??!"

I mean Cohen got to cash out on a **** ton of Goldman stock and such by accepting this gig and avoiding some taxes while also reducing his taxes.
Democrat or not, he did it for the money. He’s too smart of an individual to navigate the cuthroat culture of Goldman not to know that coming in. I honestly think he wanted to cash out totally. Even if he was probably next up for CEO.

The stupid this about this is that these Dems look so bought. There is no other reasonable excuse for this. The election year schtick does fly to me.
There was room to cut a more reasonable deal. If the GOP refused, then you still win politically because you get to tell community banks you tried but the GOP was being unreasonable. That is exactly what Sherrod Brown did, he walked away from the buffoonery, and he probably as the hardest Senate fight coming up in November.
But you give a away the farm like this you poison the entire pool because it pisses off your base; and news outlets are framing it like the entire party supporting this, instead of 25% of the Dem Senate minority.
The squad can even win when most of them on code. All it takes is a few suckas to mess things up.

I feel like people are overly simplistic about the role of money in politics, but this to me reeks of just pure corruption.
