The most hated women in Conservative circles, runs with a black Muslim, co-signed by a Jewish socialist for the purpose of making Obama a Supreme Court Justice, this is beyond real America's worst nightmares.
It moved...

Little Marco never had a shot because of the gang of 8 amnesty bill and then he got exposed and showed everyone how he gets choked up and sweaty. Forget anything else. He was a clown and will prob never hold a seat in office again

Another thing that pisses me off about that Toomey tweet is that he is confident that he'll be in office when the next president is in office. He's up for re-election this year and I'm already looking at who I'm going to vote for. I want to vote for Fetterman but he still hasn't updated his page w/ his stance on issues. I hit him up on Facebook about that and he said it'd be up soon but....

Sad thing is you know he'll run again in 4 or 8 years. These career politicians never go away. But yea he's forever dead to me bc of the immigration issue.

Did you hear his Trump comments? He's just picking his poison :lol

Obama really did play that SC Justice nomination beautifully.

No surprise with telling donors to support Trillary.

I have to ask because you are one of the few conservatives around here. Why did so many conservatives dislike Career politicians? Why is a politician one who you dislike because he works in elected office for his or her entire working life?

It strikes me as strange because in every other field, experience is considered indispensable. Do you want to get surgery from a surgeon who has never practiced medicine before or do you want the guy who's been doing it for 20 years. The same is true for hiring a lawyer or a CEO for a company or a plumber or roofer or any other job.

Politics and governing are vocations, professions and we should not get all hung up on this whole insider-outsider dichotomy. Liberals dream it occasionally, conservatives dream it often that a latter day Cincinnatus will come off his farm, solve the Republic's problems in under six months and then immediately return to his fields and leave public life.

Of course, even the real Roman dictator Cincinnatus was mythologized by later Roman writers and as a Patrician and Senator he was a actually career politician himself.

The truth of part time politicians is far worse than career politicians. In Congress we have a lot of guys who want to be there for about four to ten years, pick up a decent committee membership or chairmanship and then leave and get a great job as a Bank lobbyist or partner at a law firm that specializes in lobbying.

In States that have part time legislators, the law makers do not return to their farms and ranches and homesteads to tend their Cattle by day and teach their children Latin and Greek and the Bible by the light of the fireplace at night. Those part time law makers stay in the State Capitol and work as lobbyists for blue stocking law firms.

No matter your political ideology, you should want someone who wants to be in public office and make a career of it. You should hope for a conservative version of Bernie Sanders, someone who will do the job for which he is elected. You want a politician who makes politics and governing and serving his constituents his career and not a stepping stone to immense riches.

In any other environment has it ever been a compliment to say someone is good at playing politics? Nope.

I can't speak for him, but career politicians are despised because they are seen as skating by. Awesome healthcare, usually voting to give themselves a raise, massive amounts of time off. Basically they are out of touch.

Just like entertainers, these people really do live in their own bubble. Out of touch from the common man. Not having the normal 9 to 5 life experiences that shape the majority of the population.

I think it's something that has to be judged on a case by case basis. Especially if the alternative is "i only want successful businessmen who will run the country like a fotune 100 company"

I think some are tired of the same old rhetoric with no change. The perceived corruption and just the pathological lying that's part of the job (never mind that Trump is just as big of a liar).

It's that whole fresh eyes take on a situation. So they think somebody who has experience in another field that may require some of the same qualifications can make the leap to politics and apply the model of expertise and success they come from to the government :lol

It can work but can go drastically wrong depending on who you're picking and what field they're coming from.

Rex..

1. Corruption
2. Conflict of interest
3. Greed (power or wealth related)

These three Issues will never cease regardless of landscape.... But I think the depth of these issues can be controlled by having a cap on the amount of time politicians are able to serve the public need.

Just take a look at the track record of these career politicians from somewhere like Chicago... Not too many have ended their careers without a prison sentence.

Every instance isn't the same and I'm using this as an example but that's what I think. There's obviously more to it.. but yeah
