Russian President Vladimir Putin says US dominance is ending after mistakes 'typical of an empir

Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that America's global dominance is coming to an end, with the U.S. itself accelerating that process with a string of mistakes "typical of an empire."

The Russian president, speaking at the Valdai forum in the Black Sea resort town of Sochi, criticized the U.S. for implementing sanctions against Russia and other nations, arguing that doing so undermined trust in the dollar as the world's universal currency.

"It's a typical mistake of an empire," Putin said. "An empire always thinks that it can allow itself to make some little mistakes, take some extra costs, because its power is such that they don't mean anything. But the quantity of those costs, those mistakes inevitably grows.

"And the moment comes when it can't handle them, neither in the security sphere or the economic sphere."

Putin is out there sounding like the last boss of your favorite video game.

Still can't say he is wrong here, especially since he was in the halls of power during the fall of the Soviet empire.

The Russian president also defended President Donald Trump, saying he didn't agree with characterizations that Trump only listened to himself.

Gotta say the troll game is A+

Putin will say anything to make himself and his self-interests shine. Perhaps he should work his own countries woes before he speaks about a country in exponentially better shape. It's nothing more than a hot-take.

Soo... when do Democrat elected officials call out their Republican counterparts? Once again, they are letting the GOP shape the narrative by staying silent after being accused of coordinating with Antifa while Republican elected officials openly coordinate with racist groups.

It doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

That is a generous estimate which I figure is not taking into account the effects of global climate change. If nothing changes, a person born in 2040 may have a significantly shorter life than someone born in 2016.

Even if nothing changed with Climate, I would expect US life expectancy to really decline, austerity is already killing people and then dislocation and precarity is pushing people into suicide, opioid overdoses and alcoholism. Thanks to our new Supreme Court, expect there to be a big uptick in fatal work place accidents, lead poisoning and botched abortions as well.

The ruling class and most of America wants desperately to see the dissolution of the Soviet Union as a morality tale about the evils of socialism rather than what it actually was, a State capitalist and imperial power over extending itself and demanding too much austerity from its citizens at home.

Its funny because the more educated CHUDs, the CHUDs who've studied that classics claim that government must be controlled by rich old men because that class of people will be prudent and that others in the society would government according to their "passions" (they always use that term, as if universal healthcare is someone erotic or fun). Well be have rule by rich, old, white men and they have govern in a manner that could not be more insouciant about the future.

This is fascism emerging. Fascism is when an empire is declining and the forces of colonialism turn inward. The US has been reactionary as of late (and for most of its history) but in dying empire, we get coordination between the capitalists, right wing parties, nationalists and reactionary street gangs. Dems should embrace Antifa because we need Proud Boys getting beaten up to prevent fascism. If proud Boys can clear the streets of protesters, Republicans and their donors will embrace that behavior further and that is textbook fascism.

There is a tiny scintilla of truth there but it has nothing to do with preventing the wild fires which the small towns and urban-rural fringes of California.

About 20% of California is covered in forests and there used to be more controlled burns and now it is left in a more natural state with no controlled burns which means fewer but more intense forest fires.

However, forest fires, which take place in remote areas of the State, have nothing to do with the lethal and expensive wild fires that plague suburban, exurban and rural Californians. Those are caused by brush fires which occur during periods of high winds, high temperatures and low humidity. Traditionally those incidents occurred in September and October. Global climate change has pushed the high risk Fire season into November and December. That “Chinese hoax” of climate change pushed the high risk season from six weeks to four solid months and counting every year now.

As far as water going to the ocean is concerned, The president read one or two Victor Davis Hanson articles. Basically, the big northern and eastern mountains produce most of the snow fall which melts and historically caused massive flooding in the San Joaquin Valley. In the 20th century, a series of dams were built to prevent flooding, create electricity and provide reliable irrigation to San Joaquin Valley farmers. More recently, the State used some of that water to preserve the California Delta (a place where many big rivers converge into a wetland which then flows into the San Francisco Bay system). The reason the State wanted to preserve the Delta is because the ecosystem supports a re-emerging Salmon migration route and the State wants economic activity associate with Salmon fishing. So the State let some water out of its mountain dams so enough water could get to the delta and keep it alive.

Once again though, that has nothing to do with wild fires. Those dams that get slightly drained were far from the devastating Northern California wild fires and they were hundreds of miles from the Southern California wild fires.

TL;DR version: California could dam up ever river and chop down every forest and it would not help one bit at stopping the big fires that ravage the outer parts of the Bay Area and the LA-San Diego metro areas.

He’s willing to let Americans die and their homes burn down because of an idiotic and petty squabble with the state legislature. Sounds about right.

I’m still down for California secession. Californialand 2020!

I’ve become much more sold on the idea of California breaking up into seven States (it can be done in such a way that all seven States would be blue States). Then give D.C., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam Statehood. We’d have 60 States and a Senate that would more closely reflect popular will. Then we could really pack the federal courts, pass an iron lad voting rights act and make good, pro worker, humane policies.

If California seceded, we’d have a massive, well armed, reactionary or fascist neighbor all around us. We got to stay in this Union, reform it and us it’s power to guarantee a decent, worth while existence to all its citizens and all people around the world.

I forwarded details to Natasha Bertrand at The Atlantic about the ongoing sale of confidential 2018 US voter data from at least 20 states. I emphasized the scope of the potential data breach and have been assured that she will consult with cyber security experts to further investigate if it is a legitimate threat.

Perhaps a bit of an explanation is in order:
I disagree with many things the US does but I also highly value the relationships I have built with so many Americans. I think it's only right that I forward something I deem potentially important to US national security if I come across something. In the case of what I forwarded to the Atlantic reporter, a business contact initially messaged me on Discord about it as he knew of my interest in US politics.
I've built up many good relationships with numerous Americans over the years, dating back to playing Halo 3 online. Technically that's how I eventually ended up signing up here.
I still regularly talk to many of the Americans I've met throughout the years and would call a number of them good friends.

While my financial situation is pretty great now, back when my current medical problems first started my finances were anything but that.
Unable to continue my nursing education and with my physical abilities progressively declining over the course of the chronic disease, I had to figure out something to help pay the bills and keep myself busy.

It was a good American friend who reached out to me and offered to start a business partnership.

I believe I've mentioned my social media 'business' before, which initially started out through that partnership.
My friend/business partner taught me all about the market for valuable usernames on social media platforms and he opted to include me in a particular venture. He taught me the necessary technical skills and after some learning steps I took on a larger role in the partnership. We used an exploit on a particular platform and obtained hundreds of usernames/accounts that had been inactive for well past 5+ years. After some learning steps I started taking on a larger role in the selling process. My partner liked to work in the background while I conducted the transactions. It didn't take very long for us to dominate the market for that specific platform.

Admittedly it wasn't my proudest moment looking back on it and the company didn't take very kindly to those activities but I am on somewhat good terms with the company now.
I initiated contact with a top cybersecurity administrator on the platform and we agreed to a mutually beneficial agreement. None of my actions would be held against me and I'd be allowed back on the platform to use it as I please without getting banned, while in exchange I offered to permanently halt all such activities and informed them of all security vulnerabilities. That included a 0day exploit.
That was a number of years ago now and I've honored the agreement, so has the company.
To be clear, while every account I obtained and sold had been inactive for many years and was immediately stripped of all its original information to be replaced with my own, it was still wrong.

It did make me a sizeable amount of money but it also resulted in a significant boost in status in that kind of market. With that comes many valuable contacts and acquaintances, ones that come in handy to this day.
With a newfound sense of how those kind of markets work, funds to work with and a wide range of contacts, I set out to find a way where I could still earn a similar amount of money but without resorting to stealing anyone's account or anything, even if it had been inactive for a decade. So I set my sight on Instagram, where US friend once again taught me some valuable lessons.
Again without going into too much detail, a way to obtain Instagram usernames without anything remotely close to account theft. I've previously discussed that method in more detail but what it comes down to is that IG has a policy of 'resetting' usernames after an undetermined period of inactivity, allowing the username to be registered again. The randomized reset process is where my custom program comes in. I compiled a username list that I continually expand and review/trim. That username list is then uploaded to my custom program, which rapidly scans all those usernames for availability on Instagram. A general rule is that every valuable username is taken, unless you're far ahead of the curve on something.
When one of the usernames on that list pops up as available on my program, it means that the username has been reset or that whoever owned it changed it. As soon as one pops up as available, my program automatically registers it.
Then I proceed to sell the username to private individuals and/or companies.

Dragging myself out of a dire financial situation with my medical condition and being able to pay my mom's rent and do nice things for her, ... probably wouldn't have been possible without the helping hand of several Americans with whom I had built good relationships. I should also note that the overwhelming majority of my customers are American.
Again I'll stress that that path definitely wasn't a straight one and there were many instances of account theft along the way but I suppose the company did absolve me of wrongdoing in our agreement.

I can't thank NT enough either for being of assistance to me in various ways.
