Rubio supporting one moderate policy proposals doesn't make him moderate.

Republicans like Larry Hogan, and Sandavol are moderates when you look at all their policy views as a whole. Rubio is firmly right of them

you're moving goal posts..im talking bout da GOP field of Presidential candidates for 2016.

Rubio was part of da moderate wing w/ Krispy creme, Jebra, and Lohio boy.

So by that standard, where does your boy Trump fall?

Bottom line...

Trump and Stormfront's relationship is about the broad validity of white supremacist. Trump gives them hope of a political platform because for decades the White Nationalist movement have been marginalized in the political arena. This is the main reason why Trump will not disavow White Supremacists because that is his core supporters and has continued to use white nationalism images and messages.

But hey that is "IDENTITY POLITICS" right? :rolleyes :lol

You're the one that didn't make yourself clear then. Saying that it was us liberals fault for being so left wing that we consider Rubio right wing.

Rubio was one of the more moderate candidates because the GOP's presidential field was so hardcore right. Yes

But Rubio is still a solid conservative when everyone is considered. At least admit that then

that really is irrelevant..im talking about da chess pieces on da board for 2016.. outta all da candidates, him, scott walker, Jeb, Christie, and John were da moderates... if any Trump is da most left outta that whole field with da anti unlimited Free Trade & isolationist populist nationalism bent.

SMH.

Dude you're the one that claimed the radical left has a warped view of the political spectrum.

It goes to show how far right the GOP has moved as a whole. When Marco Rubio, and Jeb Bush represent the middle of the road.

Ninjahood has the audacity to say ppl won't answer his easy yes or no questions but when they're posed to him he either doesn't reply at all or with a paragraph that doesn't answer yes or no.

That's that cowardice.

Trump reminds me of all those suburban dads who kiss *** at the office and then take out their frustration on the waitress at Chili's or the clerk at Best Buy. They just say what's on their mind, provided the audience has very little power or recourse.

Trump claims to be a fearless truth teller when he is dumping on communities that cannot exert much leverage over him. When he posts an image that may be construed as anti-Semitic (I think it was a dog whistle to neo nazis but in any case it was much more subtle than calling Mexicans rapists), the Jewish community can exact more leverage over Trump and suddenly he becomes sensitive, or "P.C." if you will.

When it comes to certain social issues, the Democratic Party has swung hard left while the GOP has gone hard right.

On most issues the GOP, has gone hard right and the Democratic Party has moved slightly to the right or slightly leftward. In other words, there has been asymmetrical polarization.

On a side note, I do not think that polarization is so bad. Fifty years ago, voting blocs were all over the place ideologically and so were the major parties. Up through the 1960's, Republican voters were often times more socially liberal than Democratic voters and the political parties reflected that reality.

Today, we, the voters are ourselves more polarized. It is increasingly more and more untenable to be "socially liberal but fiscally conservative." Liberalism is based on empathy and conservatism is based on not having empathy.

So if you care about women, you should case if single women can have affordable day care if they are working. If you really an ally of the LGBTQ community, you know that homelessness is a big problem with LGBTQ youth and you might want to support measures to alleviate that problem. If you are anti-racist, you know that certain groups have gotten a raw deal ad that public policy should pay special attention and divert extra resources to those communities.

Today, to be a Democrat means that you believe (with widely varying degrees of intensity) that we are all in this together. Meanwhile, to be a conservative is to embrace the notion that "the strong take what they may and the weak shall suffer what they must."

I don't want grand bargains and compromise and "very serious" centrists. I do not pine for the old days of consensus for its own sake. I do not want bourbon soaked comity, at least not among my representatives. My only regret about polarization is that the Republicans have radicalized themselves faster and farther than my own party.

Most black people are in the South, I'm not going to delude myself that progressivism will ever grab hold down there.

I don't want centrist around so we can cut deals on major public policy. I want them around because I don't want hardcore conservatives having that much power over my people. I would prefer moderates ruling the South over conservatives.

And to be honest, the progressive movement and Bernie Sanders seemed very disinterested in having to consider the unique challenges facing those people.

I'm realizing that Trump is just Palin 2.0. Or Palin Beta. Or Palin's creepy uncle who used to molest her when she was younger.

There is no depth to their arguments and, when you scratch the surface, you realize they're dumb as rocks.

One got by on her looks. The other on his money.

McCain is rolling in his grave.

If we are talking about a moderate Democrat being the only viable option to steal a Republican seat, then go for it. However, we should not tolerate moderates in Democratic leaning districts and States. The reason why the GOP is so hard right is not because of ultra conservative Congressmen from Utah and Idaho, it is because they enforce ideological purity on Congressmen from slightly Republican leaning districts and States (even GOP Senators from blue States tend to be really conservative).

If you live in a Democratic district, you need to use the primary challenge to either replace a moderate or to intimidate a moderate into being a progressive.

That would ultimately help black people in the South because a more ideologically progressive Democratic Party can use the powers of the Federal government more aggressively to overrule the abuses that are committed by State governments in the South.

I understand if you are black and you are involved in the State and local politics in Alabama or Mississippi, you need to moderate your progressivism. However, if you live in Santa Barbara, CA or Sonoma, CA or another place like that, consider mounting a primary challenge in 2018.

I wasn't really talking about Congress.

I was more talking about local and state governments.

At the federal level, Progressives and liberals can steal enough seats in blue and purple states that it won't really how conservative the Reps and Senators are, their would be enough votes to get progressive policies passed. We would never have to worry about Blue Dogs, or **** boys like Joe Libermann

But far too many people on the far left like to indulge in this thinking that social democracy is going to be the cure for systemic racism. Sure it would help, but all conservative governors and major will do is take that government aid, try to funnel as much as they can to white neighborhoods, and lash out against the nearest groups of minorities they find. And in the deep South, that will be black people.

I can see it now. Jobs program passed, employers and recruiters don't come to black neighborhoods. Free tuition, all of a sudden funding for black grade schools get cut. Infrastructure bill passed, black neighborhoods get fix the absolute last. Social Democrats will pat themselves on the back, conservatives will cry about big government and try to make sure local business eat off that money first, and black folk will be told how great things will be but still see their communities not improving while the country takes off.

It is a luxury for any progressive anywhere to be able to worry about single payer health insurance, free tuition, and a job program. Some black people, even if we wished Bernie Sander's world into existence tomorrow would still have to worry about if the water coming out their pipes is clean, if they are going to get harassed by the police, or hit with another municipal fine.

And these dudes will hold power if the Democrats keep throwing progressives out there to run in the deep South, especially progressive that endorse a strong social justice platform. And naturally the GOP will till be strongest in that area of the country. So I want moderates to at least be in control of the GOP

At least if moderates (hopefully Democratic moderates) took power away from the far right in those areas, there would be less lashing out at minorities, because it is not something moderastes love to indulge in as much as far right conservatives. However, I not going to delude myself that things will be great.

If you're a white progressive living in Santa Barbara, or Sonoma you can fight for great, because great might be within reach for you. If you're a black liberal in the places in the deep south, you have fight for better.

Moderates are better than conservatives, so in the right situation, if it is all I get, I'll take it.

So I don't want them around to cut some grand bargain, but I know I need them around to stop the a greater threat.

----------

And if Bernie Sanders campaign and his supporters are the best representation of how progressives view Southern blacks, I'm still worried.

Excuse me being facetious for a moment about Bernie's Southern Strategy

But.........

Reporter: Hey Bernie, what do you think about doing poorly in Southern States.

Bernie: Well I think we should disenfranchise the black voters down there even more than they already have been by conservatives. That way people like me will have a better shot. I clearly didn't care about their voter, and people in other parts of the country are smarter anyway

Bernie Supporters: Great idea Bernie, let me repeat that general ideal but with more implicit racist messaging

Stuff like this was highly disappointing. For a movement that can do so much good for so many people, it is upsetting that the extra effort wasn't made to bridge this gap.

Like I can't sell social democracy to other black folk when I constant have to defend stuff like this.

He sounded more like he didn't want to be part of this pointless political theater.

Pretty much. It was funny how they tried to nit pick his every word from the Tuesday speech. The best is when he got frustrated at the Florida representative Mica or something and picked up his voice. Dude just shut up afterwards :lol
