Haven't seen much msn coverage of this hut did anyone hear about the failed airstrike in Syria that killed 85 civilians mistaking them for isis fighters? :x :x :x :{

Ib4 "collateral damage"

This brings up another good opportunity to discuss the guidelines/distinctions or lack thereof in the rules of engagement when labelling people "enemy combatants"

This is remarkable. The Trump campaign could've buried the story about Melania's plagiarism within an hour on Monday by simply acknowledging a mistake had been made and promising to investigate who was responsible. Instead, as they continue to deny the story, it has turned into a whodunit tale that has surpasses "The Night Of" and "Serial" as the biggest mystery of 2016. Rather than go away after a day, this news story is the top headline nationally 2 days later.

CNN and NY Times both have good articles trying to track down what happened. Here's the NYT version:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/20/us/politics/melania-trump-convention-speech.html

Also, the NYT article references something that happened over a year ago that I hadn't known about, where Trump photoshopped himself with WWII SS troops: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2015/07/donald-trump-campaign-ad-nazi-soldiers

It's still publicity for the campaign

The plagarism is ridiculously dumb but it's just overblown by now. Joe Biden has been caught plagiarizing numerous times and nobody cared. There are many better reasons for people to be against Trump and the media just looks petty at this point imo. Work on a real story.
It cost him his 1988 Presidential campaign.

I know you're embarrassed to be a Republican right now, but trying to play the "both sides" card isn't going to work.

Donald Trump doesn’t want to be president — or, at least, he doesn’t want the responsibility.

That’s the way things look after the New York Times  reported Wednesday that Donald Trump Jr. offered Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) the opportunity to be "the most powerful vice president in history" back in May.

According to a Kasich adviser who spoke with the Times, the younger Trump said that Kasich would be in charge of both domestic and foreign policy. And what would Donald Sr. be in charge of? "Making America great again."

People have long debated Trump’s rationale for running for president. Some think it’s a way for him to prove the "haters and losers" wrong. Some think he’s power hungry. His supporters believe he genuinely wants to lead the country in a new direction. But whether he’s willing to do the actual work if the job becomes his is the real question.

Vox’s Matt Yglesias wrote about Donald Trump’s "profound laziness"  following the Melania plagiarism debacle:
Plagiarism offers a window into a different aspect of Trump, one that isn’t  integral to his appeal. Trump is a phony. And a lazy one at that. He refuses to put in the work, and if he becomes president the consequences are likely to be disastrous and unpredictable.

Just ask his wife who stood up on a nationally broadcast primetime telecast to vouch for his integrity and decency, and turns out to have been set up for humiliation because Trump couldn’t be bothered to build the kind of professional presidential campaign that would equip Melania Trump with a decent speech.
Offering Kasich control of both foreign and domestic policy would leave Trump with little responsibility. He would be a figurehead, so to speak, but he would have the last word over any proposals thrown his way.

According to the Times, that’s pretty much how Trump went about deciding on a running mate anyway: He was presented with a list of 16 names, "perused it and, without suggesting any additions or deletions, nodded that it looked fine." After letting others do the hard work during the vetting process, Trump simply wanted to make the final decision.

Ultimately Kasich said no to the offer and refused to endorse Trump or attend the Republican National Convention in his own state. It’s not clear if Trump offered Pence the same powerful role he offered to Kasich.

Come November, should Trump secure the presidency, we’ll see if he really wants to lead — or if he’s simply in it for the title.

The person supposedly responsible came forward.

Biden's mistakes have cost him dearly in the past.

And it was not the jacking of lines, it was the outright lies about it. And the GOP insulting Michelle Obama, playing up the anger black woman by to promote Melania

That all added to the blow back.

I've never voted republican before. 2012 straight down the line democrat.

Nobody cared for long is a better way to put it. He got past it. I'm embarrased for the media. It would be nice for them to dive into the clinton foundation and uranium deal and private server with such ambition.

I totally agree that the campaign should have come out and ate crow. But watching hillary deny and deny and send out james carvelle to scream "look over there"... i see why they went that route. The whole thing is just stupid. His campaign is a scary joke.

I still think Biden could have won

I just read that, SMH.

Dude wants to use the office to promote his brand. Nothing he says can be trusted.

Yet, his supporters delude themselves about how great he is going to be.

I just don't understand Trump supporters man.

Are they just entirely naive and ignorant? For lack of a more respectful term, are they just unintelligent? The intellectual dregs of American Society?

Or are they predominantly racists who identify with Trumps bigotry and hate speech?

Only two hypotheses that make sense honestly. They certainly don't support him because of his policy.

I honestly don't think Trump would have as strong of a following if he was running against a white man in November. Him running against scumbag Hill definitely adds to his appeal because he's a white man in a country built for white men by white men

In 1988?

Doubt it, not with Jesse Jackson and Gore running. No way to angle round Duakakis

Tamaron :hat. Hat Baoi sweating, looking like a fool on the hot seat :lol. Contradicting himself all over the place. She's stunning.

And I want to do some things that are frowned upon in the Far East to Katrina Pearson....

No i meant now, 2016. I think he could have won if he went after Hillary and had Obama's backing.

While i freely admit that i vastly underestimated the importance of racists/bigots embracing trump, i still think it's more about the state of this country as a whole.

Jobs are disappearing that will never come back due to technology and outsourcing. People are mad and desperate and ignored. I think a large part of it is also their way of "getting back" at the elite the only way they can. (Similar to brexit)

So the whole speech about building a wall, kicking people out, calling them murderers and rapist didn't tip you off? What about his stance on banning Muslims?

I think he harped on things that a segment of the population feels nothing is being done about. Then he went to the next level of offensiveness so that the media would pick up on it and give him attention.

Neither democrats or republicans want to stop illegal immigration. Period. Then trump comes and people listen.

Obama comes off across as indifferent at best when it comes it islamic extremism. I think it's safe to say that he feels the threat is exaggerated if not imaginary. Every time there is an attack he lectures americans about islam being a peaceful religion and tells people about the christian crusades and to get off their high horse. Downplays it all the time. Won't even name it. Calls it workplace violence.

Well then trump comes along and seems to actually want to fight it even if it's with an idea that isn't even possible. But it's something. He appears strong according to his supporters. And messed up enough that the media gives him attention.

Trump didn't come out of a void. You didn't even mention illegal immigration when talking about getting rid of people. The media does the same and people are pissed off. It's not hard to see why someone desperate and in idgaf mode goes to him

He was talking about trade deals ALOT. Many people on the left hate NAFTA and TPP too.

I'm living just fine. Status quo is fine for me. Hillary represents that.
