***Official Political Discussion Thread***

@rickyrobot if you can't see why Trump is bigoted, and pushes and encourages bigotry, xenophobia and sexism...idk what to tell you. Your post about what you think of examples of racism, tells me everything I need to know about you on this topic. Racism isn't only stupid people on social media saying slurs...it's much more than just that.

Additionally, trump is stoking the flames of white nationalism...and much of his rhetoric is based in that. He's also a liar, cheater and just downright a POS.

The media has nothing to do with Trumps portrayal. He is the idiot that keeps exposing himself.
this. i didnt feel that this had to be said. the biggest detriment to his campaign is only himself literally everything the media has said or covered about him has been through him saying the most ignorant crap. if you cant see the problem with what he has been saying you are either very daft or willfully ignorant to what he says

Donald Trump has floated idea that would violate constitutional rights, violate the Geneva conventions, that would makes us default on our debt, explode your deficits, has put forward so many policies that would throw us into recession, back out of our obligation to NATO, remove another firewall between church and state, expand our police state, and enter into trade wars that would increase the cost of living.

If Hillary Clinton is so manufactured, at least now the machine I'm getting is not an incompetent fool

I mean, I listed some of the biggest controversial topics that the media has bludgeoned to death in my long post (Muslim ban, anti-women, anti-Mexican) and explained why I don't think those are inherently bigoted.

So can I get some of y'all's examples? Dumb it down for me. I must be missing something.

You white washed those proposals to make them seems less offensive than they are.

Plus there is much more wrong with those things that bigoted views. The Border Wall and his immigration policy is especially stupid even if you take the bigotry out of it.

It's obvious the liberals of this thread have completely given up hope. They're literally acknowledging their candidate is habitual liar and in the same breath championing her. Political Stockholm Syndrome.

Lets not act like Trump is the misunderstood truth teller, and Hillary is the habitual lair.

I mean just a couple days ago we discussed Trump's dishonesty, and you still try to run with this talking point.

Is hope another word you're not familiar with.

Plus you're talking about hope in a president election where Donald Trump is the opposing candidate.

Liberals have given up hope. Conservatives have given in to demagoguery.

The entire Republican party is in shambles and will be taking Ls as they try to recover and regroup.

it truly is ironic how people say Hillary is a liar yet show Trump support

nah can't get down with what you said bro at all but do you. you letting a lot of bigoted crap he says slide

Although we disagree, I respect your opinion and appreciate your respect for me being able to have my own.

But now I'm curious, can you give me an example or two of the bigoted stuff that I'm missing? Like I said, I've watched hours of election coverage pretty much every day this year and not once have I heard anything that made me go, "Wow, this guy really is a racist piece of ****." It's mostly been, "Wow, people have no concept of nuance and take literally everything at face value."

- Saying that a judge couldn't be impartial because he is Mexican
- Proposed muslim ban and 'database'

The way you framed your interpretation of his bigotry indicates that you don't really understand the intricacies of those issues

"He's not using slurs in his speeches" and "He's too rich and famous to hate minorities" are laughably flawed premises and are not valid defenses for racism

"He could be treating women way worse" isn't a valid defense of misogyny

"My dad is Mexican and he likes Trump" is an anecdote and not a valid defense of xenophobia

How did I white wash them? I spelled out exactly what he's been catching heat for.
  • He made a crude joke about a woman on her period and called another woman a bimbo, therefore he must be a sexist pig. I don't subscribe to that theory. I'm sure he says "mean" **** about males all the time. Assuming he's just an ******* in general to both men & women alike, how is he a sexist?
  • He said he wanted to ban all Muslims, then changed to say people from terror zones. ISIS is actively infiltrating refugee populations. I think it makes perfect sense to halt / slow immigration from these well-known terror zones until our vetting process has improved significantly. Tell me how it's morally wrong to anticipate our biggest enemy's moves and adjust our national security strategies and policies accordingly?
  • He SAID he's going to build a wall. As I said, I myself doubt that it'll actually happen, but if it were  to happen, I wouldn't be morally opposed. I highly doubt his motivation for putting up a wall is because he personally hates Mexican people.
Honestly, all I'm hearing are complaints over words (with no action) vs. actions that put our country at risk.

I don't care what Trump / Clinton supporters say, I focus on listening to the 1 man and the 1 woman I have to choose between, that's it. So yes, I still trust the arrogant, unpolished Donald Trump to do a better job with this country than the unscrupulous Hillary Clinton. She's just a power hungry *****.

- Saying that a judge couldn't be impartial because he is Mexican
- Proposed muslim ban and 'database'
  • Do you think it's totally outside of the realm of possibility that the Mexican judge could possibly harbor some resentment towards Donald Trump because of the wall topic? He's a judge, but also a human, and humans are flawed. Sometimes they are not as objective as they should be.
  • (See: 30 for 30 OJ Made in America. The jury was supposed to be impartial, right? Yet in several interviews, black jury members confirmed that 90%+ of them voted "innocent" to get back at white people / cops for the racial injustices of the past.)
  • I addressed the Muslim ban

Give me just 1 genuinely racist quote from Donald Trump.

Give me just 1 genuinely sexist quote from Donald Trump.

I will give you the "rapists, criminals coming from Mexico" as being a xenophobic statement (on the face of it). However, that's when understanding hyperboles comes in handy.

* There is a difference between the judge and a jury. They try to make a jury impartial, but it often doesn't work that way. That is why for high profile cases, they try to move the trial elsewhere to hope that the jury is impartial. Jury selection often takes a long amount of time, because they want to try and make it impartial. It is the judge's main objective and character trait to be impartial.

* I didn't see where you addressed the muslim ban. Cliff notes please.

Anybody rationalizing and defending racism and bigotry like @rickyrobot needs to be shot in the head.

So much more respect for the racist who actually have the nut sack to own it instead of hiding behind veils.
Yikes. Well, aside from the death threat:

The irony is that Trump, according to you, would fall under the racist who has the nutsack who owns it vs. Hillary Clinton hiding her racism behind veils.

The difference is Hillary successfully fooled you into thinking otherwise.

Cheers to having a friendly debate!

Isn't that just a back up for blco or cl anyway?

This that old new. Calling ppl racists, claiming they've hidden it and fooled the masses.

It's always funny how those ppl will defend blatant racism yet be experts on veiled triple encoded racism.

-He said women that get an abortion should be punished in some say, he said that if a woman gets sexually harassed should probably quit her job to solve the problem. Stop acting like he is just same good ole boy. These are serious issues faces women and he dismisses them like they are nothing

-Second his stupid Muslim ban would hardly make us any safer. A lot of terrorist are homegrown, most mass shooter are white and non Muslims. If you're scared of a mass shooter, Trump is not the man to keep you safe. But he has also floated the idea on monitoring Muslim neighborhood, and Mosque, and having a database of Muslims. That why his comments toward Khans were so stupid. In Trump's word, Humayun Khan wouldn't have never been let into the country.

-The border wall is stupid. I don't have time to tell you how stupid it is, nit this video does a good job at it

Plus if you extract a large number of people from you economy at one time, productivity will decrease, cost of production will increase, cost of living will shoot up........and you know what willcauses?..................A big *** recession.

So lets not act like people are just mad over some hurt feelings. Trump's policies range from the unconstitutional, so morally bankrupt, to falt out fiscally stupid.

---------

And it seems that since you're repeating yourself so much already, you haven't given this much thought to this pass a couple memes, and the strawman you have built in your head.

Don't get it twisted for one second. There's no respect and certainly nothing friendly between the two of us.

Trump doesn't own his racism, he's just devoid of social intelligence of any kind and is prone to slip up. Then the next day it's deny, deny, deny.

Give me just 1 genuinely sexist quote from Donald Trump.

How about 10?

Back when George HW Bush was US President, Trump spoke to Esquire magazine about the media:
"You know, it doesn't really matter what [they] write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ***."

“There are basically three types of women and reactions. One is the good woman who very much loves her future husband, solely for himself, but refuses to sign the agreement on principle. I fully understand this, but the man should take a pass anyway and find someone else. The other is the calculating woman who refuses to sign the prenuptial agreement because she is expecting to take advantage of the poor, unsuspecting sucker she’s got in her grasp. There is also the woman who will openly and quickly sign a prenuptial agreement in order to make a quick hit and take the money given to her.”

Back in 2004, Trump told the Daily News: "all of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me - consciously or unconsciously. That's to be expected”.

After New York Times columnist Gail Collins wrote about rumours of Trump’s bankruptcy, he sent her a copy of her own article, with her picture circled and ‘the face of a dog!’ scrawled across it.

In an interview with the New York Times, Trump said of the German supermodel: “Heidi Klum. Sadly, she’s no longer a 10.”

In reference to Carly Fiorina
"Can you imagine that, the face of our next next president? I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"

Lets not forget that Trump also encouraged russia to hack the USA government computer systems, and also called for a revolution if he loses... Both of those are treason in my book.

You've given us 2 examples of what you believe to be "genuine" racism. One includes the use of racial slurs, and the other includes going on Ellen to dance.

Like I said, your depth of knowledge on racism and the way it manifests itself is elementary at best.

Entertaining your request for real racist and sexist quotes would be an exercise in futility just as it is with all Trump supporters.

Trillary still better than Trump tho.

How do you figure?

To me, it boils down to this:

Trump:

  • "He's an evil bigot who hates minorities!"
  • I genuinely do not believe he is this evil, hateful, racist, bigoted monster that seemingly everyone (including the media) is portraying him as. When I think of wealthy, successful, powerful businessmen, I think of people who are too mentally preoccupied with many other, more important things than harboring and actively embracing racial hatred (like running multi-billion dollar enterprises). Think of the true racists you see on social media on a daily basis (e.g. white people who write "n-er" without hesitation, black people who write "white devil" without hesitation, etc.) -- you look at their profiles and you'll find that they're typically uneducated or under-educated, uncultured filth who have no lives and have nothing to lose and have nothing better to do than to spew ignorant hatred on the Internet. The kind of people who loathe others because they're miserable themselves. I see racism as being for low-impact, small-minded people. I don't think those descriptors apply to Donald Trump; it's beneath him to be truly racist.
  • He's clearly not as much of a groomed politician / public speaker as Hillary Clinton, but I can at least respect the authenticity of him speaking freely (however "offensive" it may be to others -- not me, for the record) over Hillary's carefully calculated speeches that are inauthentic by definition and purposely crafted to appease the masses -- those aren't even her words, man. (Cue the Melania Trump jokes -- but she's not running for President, she's just a supermodel who married rich so I don't have high expectations from her to begin with.)
  • "But... but... he wants to ban all Muslims from entering the country!"
  • ISIS have repeatedly said that they're actively infiltrating refugee populations in an attempt to migrate to Western countries under the radar and to carry out attacks from within, once they've made it. Is it totally irrational to think we need to cease (or at least slow down) the flow of migrants from the terror zones until we can sufficiently improve our vetting process? I don't think so.
  • "He hates women!"
  • Because he made a joke about a woman on her period? Because he called a woman a bimbo? Hardly the worst things you could to do / say to women. Have you ever done those things? I certainly have, and it's not because I hate women.
  • "He wants to build a wall to keep Mexicans out!"
  • Look, I'm a first generation American born to legal Mexican immigrants and I have no problem with the idea of a wall. I'll believe it when I see it, but I don't have a moral issue with it. But forget me, I'm as American / "white-washed" as they come. How about my Mexican-born and raised father who immigrated here in the 80's? He doesn't mind it either. I asked him about the topic once. "Hey dad, you're Mexican, born and raised in Mexico and immigrated here a long time ago. How do you feel about the whole 'illegal immigration' thing?" He told me, "They need to go to the back of the line and do it the right way like I had to." Now, is he a Tío Tomás? No, he just respects and adheres to the law of the country he himself chose to immigrate to and expects everyone else (including his Mexican brethren) to do the same. Is that so crazy?

Hillary:

I can only imagine what's going on in her head: "This'll get the black people on my side!" To artificially embrace a culture that she has probably never lived or loved for the sake of projecting an image of "I understand you and your people"; to reduce the culture to rap songs and fad dances for the sake of "vote for me" is the true racism. You don't see this kind of fake *** reverse c-nery on Trump's side.

I've been watching election coverage quite intently for the past several months on both CNN & Fox News. I consider myself to be a fairly rational person. I can't get behind a smiling liar.

This entire list is seeing what you want to see and not acknowledging reality. All I have to say is that if the people who were supposed to help him get elected - people who are closer to him than you or I will ever be - do not see half the stuff you see in Donald Trump, there must be a good reason why.

Donald Trump was sued, twice, by the DOJ (under a Republican president) for violating the 2nd Civil Rights Act because he was not renting to black people. First time in the 1970s

He settled out of court, in what was seen as a victory for the DOJ

But yeah, this is all in our heads
