He wants to restrict freedom of the press by expanding libel laws (one of the pillars of democracy is a free press), and he's shown his desire to do so by attacking the media for portraying him as he is. How do you feel about that?

I completely agree that he shouldn't engage in the small, meaningless battles; not because I believe he's morally wrong for doing so, but because it is obviously hurting his public image. He should just shut up and keep it moving, 100% agree.
I am unaware of any disparaging comments / contempt directed towards ALL gold star families. Are you referring to the back-and-forth with the Khan family? ("Why didn't the mother speak?") Another thing I would not have engaged in, but I also don't consider it to be the crime of the century, as the media made it out to be.
I've watched many, many hours of CNN since January and while I still consider it to be my go-to source for news, I also think they're laying it on REALLY thick about Donald Trump. It's one Trump story after another with very little criticism of Hillary. I don't think any objective human being can deny that. As far as expending the libel laws, I would need to see the specific proposed changes to legislation before making a call on that. On the face of it, however, I strongly believe in the freedom of speech in all facets of society.

^ the issue with the libel thing, which Gry60 didn't mention, is that Trump has said that he will target journalists who were unfavorable to him during his run for president. Think about that. He wants to use his powers as president to punish those in the media who are doing their job. So it's not just about restricting freedom of press. It's about targeting political opponents, something that historically happens in **** countries by **** dictators.
Thankfully, it is now about 80% of the media who is unfavorable to Trump, so I don't see how he can go after everyone if he is president. But **** anyone who says that a trump proposal not being practical means it's ok for him to propose it.

many think that way and that is fair and rational. some of us also think that Hillary will be a competent and productive president who will improve the country. this idea that we've given up hope if we acknowledge that a politician has lied sounds like another #NTextreme.
