The show stopper
The unstoppable force meets the immovable object.

Kamala co-sponsored the 2K per Month bill months ago. I assume she's on board with a one time payment since she wanted more

Biden said he supports the upping of payments yesterday. Could they say more? yeah I hear ya but they will back it

I didn’t know what their stance was on it I asked. I thought I would see more with everything going on right now.

What’s his reasoning for Vetoing the $2K?

My guess is that they come out and say they support the 2k, but feel it is irresponsible to do it without adding business coronavirus liability protection.

To put the ball back in the Dems’ court to decide whether it’s worth giving on that to get 2k to people in need.

It seems like he only blocked the unanimous vote since he knew it wouldn't pass unanimously anyway. This could still be voted in today by a majority vote if I'm not mistaken.

We'll see.

Thomas Frank is a bit too reductionist for me, personally, but he has some very good insights.

He is absolutely correct when he says that journalist used to be adversarial towards politicians. Now, DC journalists see themselves as peers and friends of politicians so they identify with their clever parliamentary tricks rather than tell people, “Republicans want to make it so your boss can force you to work without a mask and you can’t sue them if you get Covid.”
