***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I need to do something positive tomorrow. I've had such a blood lust for these people to fall since Wednesday. I feel like Tony and Manolo in the rebenga scene.
Agreed with this but as soon as **** started popping up again in the morning

What I really wish that I could see from this Parler fallout is I have a co-worker who used to post her “conspiracies” on FB, but the thing is they weren’t really hers, more so her husband’s rantings that she believed. So fast forward a little bit and all of the social media platforms are cracking down on stupidity and she calls it being censored, so she made the move to Parler where she can post her views on society and the government, which we both work for the government which is odd, but deep down I have a sneaking suspicion that she is racist, I just want to know so bad. So so bad. She was all up in arms when BLM had their protests over black people being killed by police, they were thugs, criminals, etc..... since the storming of the Capitol though, not one peep. So I made a snide remark when they (older white co-workers) and her were huddled around the tv when this was going down, I said something to the effect of “look at all of those Neanderthals and thugs” not one of the coworkers huddled around the tv spoke to me the rest of the day.

I am against the death penalty—period. In all cases. So I am certainly against any of this outrageous conduct.

I did not dispute it.

Saying “I don’t know if Trump is a racist” is not the same as saying “Trump is not a racist.” I said the former as much as you want to accuse me of saying the latter.

It is completely fair for anyone to come to the conclusion that Trump is a racist based on his rhetoric and actions.
But for you, it seems that he needs to tell you that he is a racist. Like...he is really gonna do that. That is why your position is absurd, disingenuous.

I got a coworker who never ever ever ever takes vacation. And our company doesnt cash out those hours. So for years, mans has been letting 120+ hours of free time/money go to the dustbin.

He took vacation on the 6th and 7th though...

It is. No where in there did I defend Trump. I was explaining implicit and subconscious bias. And distinguishing a scenario provided by @boris

To be clear, much of what Trump has said and done throughout his presidency and now in his defeat has been indefensible. I said that back when I supported his re-election, and I still feel that way now that I have stopped supporting him.
Soo.....you voted for Trump while you knew his actions were indefensible and still feel that way after not supporting him?

What kind of person are you?

He doesn’t need to tell me anything.

The fact that his rhetoric and actions are sufficient to conclude he is a racist is enough. That’s why I said it’s fair to come to that conclusion.

I simply said I don’t know, because I don’t.

He could be a racist. It’s likely. He could use racist rhetoric because he thinks it will get racists to vote for him and support him. Both are horrible whether he’s a racist or not.

Saying I don’t know is not a defense of the indefensible.

I no longer support him, period.

Initially it was his defeat and the focus went to helping the Dems flip the Senate as the political landscape had changed.

His response to the defeat, and increased dangerous rhetoric, has confirmed that was the right choice.

In hindsight, I should’ve expected this and stopped supporting him a while back. But I was focused on his ability to get meaningful legislation past an otherwise obstructive GOP-led Senate.

That is no longer an issue, and I’m glad I shifted to trying to help the Dems flip the Senate.

 Dude has been talking like this for decades. Don't act like this just started a month ago. He said when the looting starts the shooting starts on twitter for christ sake and you still voted for it a second time.

Dudes entire second term platform was mexicans are rapists and murders and kung flu. You couldn't name a single policy proposal except two comes after one and that he would enact the second step act despite reports he was against the first step act.

I supported him in the past. And I’m the type of person that made a mistake in supporting him and acknowledged my mistake.

I would guarantee those asshats at Immigration I used to work with made a trip, probably used the work vehicles too and charged mileage as the agency ad the company were superlax about that. They were letting contractors drive unmarkeds with emergency lights.

One Oklahoma sheriff has already been doxed as having been there. https://kfor.com/news/local/canadia...ng-in-d-c-but-says-he-didnt-join-in-the-riot/

You know. Thats the first time that i've seen you acknowledge that fully. I can accept when someone admits they've made a mistake. It doesn't absolve you from the fallout of your choices (ie. public ridicule on a message forum) , but it does mean that you've learned from a mistake. Good.

What would make you think that he is NOT a racist?

I'm sorry nah, you don't learn that lesson the moment he loses the election.

What would make you think that he is NOT a racist?

Definitively? That’s tough.

Probably years of a close personal friendship and experiences with him that would somehow overcome his public words and actions.

Many have said this presidency is more or less an elaborate grift. So some knowledge that he was simply swindling racists might get me to that point.

But I am not anywhere near that conclusion now.
