I doubt it's a top priority in the first couple rounds. Joe Staley just turned 30 and Anthony Davis, 25, barely saw the field last year. As long as our starters stay healthy we'll be ok.

They'll likely grab someone they feel they can groom in the later rounds.

pre-free agency mock draft

too lazy to put in my own descriptions and reasoning in right now, but it's pretty easy to see why trent would like most of these guys. Still don't know if we're transitioning to a zone scheme with our new OL coach...

1.) Danny Shelton NT 6'2 340lbs

With his thick frame and powerful upper body, Shelton has moments where he can dominate at the point of attack. He was forced to chase sideline to sideline due to the nature of Pac-12 offenses, but when he faced downhill competition like Stanford, he stepped up. Shelton is an above average interior pass rusher for a man his size thanks to his surprising athleticism. He is a fit in a two-gap scheme and could benefit from playing fewer snaps than he was forced to play at Washington.
2.) Devin Smith WR 6'0 198lbs

Smith isn't just combine-fast, he's game-fast and he would have had more than 12 touchdown catches during the 2014 season if he didn't have to slow down and wait on throws so often. Smith has the feet and hips to become much more than a deep-ball specialist and should be able to step right into a gunner spot on special teams. He still needs to learn his craft and improve his hands, but he has rare speed to score from anywhere on the field.
3.) Ali Marpet OL 6'4 307lbs

Good foot quickness with ability to reach and hook opponents. Quick out of stance and into defender. Usually the low man using hips and arm extension to lock out and control his man. Has leg drive to drive his man backward and finish. Consistent with hand placement in run and pass. Plays with advanced technique for a Division III player.
4.) (traded to DEN)

4/5.) David Cobb RB 5'11 230lbs

Cobb's YouTube highlights might bore you, but he's custom-made for physical running teams. He has one-cut traits and can play in a gap scheme. Adjusting his style to the speed of the NFL game might take some time, but Cobb's downhill, run-finishing style fits what running games are becoming again and he has a shot to be more than just a complementary back.
6.) Ladarius Gunter CB 6'1 202

Has the desired size, length and playmaking qualities to be a starting cornerback but his perceived lack of play speed and inconsistency in man coverage could cause teams to peg him as a zone corner, which might drop him by a round.
7.)  Anthony Jefferson DB 6'1 198

Body looks made for the safety position. Played cornerback and safety and was generally willing to do whatever his team needed in any given game. Able to cover tight ends. Uses his cornerback skill of reading routes to clue him in for an early charge downhill as safety. Takes good angles to the ball and will drive through his target at impact. Has shown great mental toughness through adversity.
7.) (traded to IND)

my bad

i was referring to the stevie johnson IG picture i had up. i deleted it because there are conflicting reports of whether that is his IG.

**** jed.

give the team back to eddie, denise.
I watched the DeBartolo A Football Life documentary again the other day, had the sadz :frown:

Niners cutting the wrong folks already and clearly Offense is STILLL the issue :smh:

Hopefully the O grabs some pieces in free agency and the draft, along with Kap making strides(that I thought he'd make last year) and Geep properly utilizing the weapons we do have.

I wouldn't blame it all on Kap, coaching played a big role in his game

We'll see this year with a coach that said they gonna utilize his strengths

Love Shelton to slip to us. Those first two rounds would be serious. Would love to get Marcus Peters In the 2nd dude is just so smooth. Stefon diggs in the 3rd the value would be crazy.

Dockett is a DE.

So base front could look like:
Lynch - Dockett - Shelton - Justin - Aldon
:pimp:

Rotate Tank, Dial, Dorsey, TJE and Williams.

I would be cool with Dockett at the right price. He has some question marks though. Can he still play every down (not really a problem with our rotation) and how will he look at his age coming back from that injury. Would be nice to get another veteran in there especially if Justin Smith doesnt come back.

I don't know how to embed from mobile but you guys gotta watch this highlight film on Hayne

m.youtube.com/watch?v=yItnEVoD0VQ

He had dudes shook of him... Laying dudes left and right and his running skills seem pretty good

You won't be disappointed
