At one point we worked out AJ Mccarron, Mike Glennon, hell we even had Benkert on our practice squad for most of the season. Soon as Jimmy G went out I get it we plucked JJ off someone’s practice squad so we had to keep him on the roster. But at some point did it not cross their minds that if in fact Purdy goes down JJ is the man. We didn’t even sign a QB to the practice squad, organization took Purdys success and health for granted.

it just makes more sense to bring in a guy who is already familiar with the organization/plays. any of those other guys would have had to learn the system from scratch. they might have been worse. we can what if all day, but what happened happened. it ain’t changing

AJ McCarron and Mike Glennon haven't been relevant for over a decade man. Obviously, Kyle seen something in JJ that he didn't see in them so I'm thinking that it would have been similar, but most likely worse. Our playbook is challenging to pick up so that may weed out alot of potential back up QBs.

Josh Johnson is a waste, of time and of a player. Still don’t understand how a 15 year veteran thats been in a system struggled so much.

the oline was cosplaying matadors and letting the rush in untouched. no back up was gonna be successful. JJ was 7-13 for 74yards. that fumble was a killer though

So that’s suppose to explain why we don’t have a practice squad qb? We got JJ playing scout QB for the defense and he ain’t even focusing on being a backup to Purdy. The organization was too content with calling it day with Purdy and JJ. And yes it does not help that Jimmy G was projected to come back at this point and then just said f it.

the back ups always go against the starting defense. that’s how they get reps.

I don’t want to go as far as saying that if Purdy doesn’t get hurt they win the game. But not challenging that catch on the Eagles first drive and the Purdy injury changed the entire trajectory of the game midway through the first quarter.

The defense was getting stops and was containing Hurts. Aside from the McCaffrey td drive, they were getting good field position only to quickly give the ball back to Philly. At some point Philly was going to capitalize.

The air was let out the ballon already with the Purdy injury, but the end of the 2nd quarter was the back breaker. If you go into halftime down 10-7 or even 14-7, it’s a one score game and you get the ball back to start the 2nd half. That last fumble was brutal.

They aren’t the first team to have a season go up in smoke due to injuries and untimely turnovers, and they won’t be the last. Had they took the L with Purdy playing the whole game and not getting hurt, you take the L and it is what it is. But something just feels incomplete with how everything played out yesterday.

I think it's obvious that Jimmy wasn't ready, probably still can even run at all let alone plant weight on his broken foot to throw.

now that we know BCB’s injury is lookin like a 6month+ surgery and recovery, would Jimmy G have been ready to go in two weeks if niners had miraculously won it with JJ?
