I’m not buying all the “Kyle lost the locker room” talk. But how they play these next 7 games is going to be very telling. The effort they play with in these final 7 games is going to say a lot.

These final 7 games are going to really give an idea of this is just more of a down year, or if the window with the current core is closed. They need to at the very least split these Green Bay and Buffalo games if they want any type of real shot at the playoffs.

My wife barely knows anything about football, but every time she watches this team lose, she questions what she’s watching and tells me “this is why your team always loses when it matters”

Yesterday:
“Wasn’t that #23 guy you like injured? How come he’s playing so much? Won’t he get hurt again?”

I mean, that doesn’t even require any coaching knowledge. It’s just common sense and decency you’d expect from anyone, but no, let’s run a barely recovered player 1000x up the middle just like all of opponents expect, all while we also have a decent 100% healthy RB in Mason.

Her most consistent feedback over the past 5 years of casually tuning into games with me is that this team looks/plays without confidence in important games. “They look scared, they look like they’re panicking and don’t know what to do”

If someone who doesn’t know anything about the sport can identify the lack of proper coaching, it’s baffling that there has been zero pressure on Shanahan to make any changes from the organization itself.

I don't understand why you cannot utilize both Mason and CMC. Mason has earned the right for more touches and should have Shanahan's trust by now.
You have 2 excellent runners you can consistently pressure the defense with. You can play action Mason if you really want to trick the defense, so it isn't always "oh Mason is in its a run."

Going to get CMC injured with the usage. Mason and Guerrendo have the younger legs and some pop, take advantage of that instead of using all the weapons the league is used to by now.

The old saying goes, “The team takes on the personality of its coach.”

The demeanor and confidence of the head coach is reflected by the 49ers play on the field and the resounding and obvious result is a team that looks like it has little to zero confidence in winning football games.

This team is done for this year.

I’ll bet money the 49ers do NOT win 7 straight. Because that is what it’s gonna take to win the division and make the playoffs. The Cardinals are playing with super high confidence right now and to think that the NFC West is some chump division would be ignorant to say the least.

You will understand when you fully realize Kyle Shanahan is a narcissistic and arrogant fraud of a coach whose brain is incapable of having situational awareness.

The proof is in the pudding. This guy has a track record of choking big games and failing to adjust. That’s all the evidence you need.

We need a DE now too, without Bosa that line looked like absolute trash.
Line has been bad even with Bosa for a huge chunk of the season.
This year probably just isn't it, there are too many issues that can't be corrected midseason. I hope they surprise me but Im not holding my breath.
McDaniels is having the same type of issues on offense as Kyle, and he's running a version of Kyles scheme. I really do think defenses have learned how to defend it and is going to take an offseason for Kyle to figure out an adjustment.

people have figured out this scheme. if you bring the pressure the hot throw is is usually not an easy one to make. that’s why purdy needs to be able to change up at the line. if he sees a defender coming he should be able to call something going to the open man, not wait for the original play to develop and try to hit the hot route.

it worked for a good while, but it’s time for kyle evolve the offense

Guys I’m calling it now we are winning the next two games.

I admire the faith. But brother, i wouldn’t be shocked if we won both, or if we lost both.

We’re 10 weeks into the season and I can’t recall if the niners have beat a team over .500 yet. If there was an opportunity to hit reset and begin a new season, it would be this Sunday.

West is still up for grabs. It’s wild tho, all year we’ve been saying “the west is weak.” Maybe the west is weak because the niners?

Stop the excuses man. Hes not a rookie. Maybe Purdy should MAN UP.

Take that cape off

In other news... why the hell hasn't Sorensen been fired yet? That should've been the first thing done this morning smh

All that said. While I’m not opposed to them firing Wilkes given the circumstances. It’s on Kyle to get the new defensive coordinator hiring right. If the replacement is a downgrade from Wilkes and they regress on that end. It should be Kyle who ends up feeling the heat for that move.

It’s not a 1 game issue that got him fired. Clearly throughout the season there was a disconnect between him and the players. We might never know the specifics of it, but canning him a year after bringing him on is the proverbial way of Kyle saying “I made a mistake.” Wilks’ name was not brought up for any of the head coaching vacancies, I don’t remember him being interviewed. So it’s either go through another season of disconnect or find someone else. Kyle chose to begin the search, I respect the decision.

Everyone here said that he was better than Wilks. What happened?
No one said that... you just making **** up. We all said Wilks was trash and we've all been saying Sorensen is trash. I guess you forgot they had to make Wilks come down from the booth just to see what the hell he was doing.

Big dog, respectfully, to chalk up 2 Super Bowl appearances and 2 conference championship appearances in the past 5 years as a team who “ looks/plays without confidence in important games” is crazy :lol.

I admire the optimism in here.

But let’s be realistic.

Too many injuries

Too many coordinator changes

Too many games against legit playoff contenders

Same old Kyle Shanahan

If you think Kyle will evolve and adapt his offense and give Brock the ability to audible and adjust plays at the line and give Purdy 100% trust, then you must not have been paying attention to Kyle Shanahan the last 8 years.

But I love the optimism and faith.

However let’s keep it real, these 49ers are NOT playoff material

When they’ve had three DC’s the last three years, firing Sorensen mid season is an admission by York, John, and Kyle that they have no idea what they’re doing.

The optics of firing anyone mid season is just bad all the way around and I don’t see SF firing anybody until after the season.

If they fail to make the playoffs, everyone is on the chopping block
